JWs can get an "unscriptural divorce" but they can't remarry or else they're fornicating

If you get an unscriptural divorce that means that you cannot remarry because that would be fornicating...

HOWEVER....if you and the X decided to get together for a quickie after your not recognized unscriptual divorce you would also be DF'ed for fornicating. I believe that is still the policy so....you are screwed if you do and screwed if you don't.

Do you remember the old 'New things Learned' at CO's visits? It was really a test to see if everyone was up to speed in 'JW Speak'. Woe betide you if you didn't know the ins and outs of the latest 'new light'.

They finally discontinued it because so few people prepared, including the elders.

    Hi Blondie,

They finally discontinued it because so few people prepared, including the elders.

There is also a bit of a twist in this; in that you don't need even to read all the Watchtowers nowadays in order to stay up to date. You simply skim through the "do you remember" article published at the back of the Watchtower every 3 months or so. You are the "Up" With All The Latest JW Rules, Lingo & Policies of The WT" in an instance.

Continue in the Things That You Learned [obs]
The scripturally derived name of a meeting conducted by the {circuit overseer} midweek during his visit, normally the same night as the {Congregation Book Study} . This meeting was discontinued in 1996. [59] (2Ti 3:14) It was customary for the CO to supply a list of questions for research by the first day of his visit, so people could prepare for this meeting. (See also {New Things Learned} .)
    [59] Replaced by an additional {service talk} .

    New Things Learned [obs]
The former name for a meeting held during the circuit overseer's visit, later called {Continue in the Things That You Learned} . The meeting is no longer conducted. Although this name for it became obsolete, it was still used in conversation because it was shorter. Some people wryly called it ``Old Things Remembered''.

Incredible as to what degree the organization has taken to assert control over its subjects. Almost frightening.

You don't have to have a new "blood card" issued every year (January), you just keep the one you had from last year unless there are things that need to be changed on the card ( address )
