Sorry, but I would disagree that "most believe that it is" there are more post tribbers then you think and the tide has changed back to a historic premillenial view

Well, I probably should have said "many" rather than "most," but even a lot of the premillenialists believe that Christ could return at any time, which is the definition of imminence that I advanced. I'm not sure exactly what the post-tribbers think, but I have some friends who fall into that category, and I'll have to ask them.

The Witness printing group seems to me to more fit the profile of a political party than a religion, or better, a government in exile. They are a separatist movement so they will be litigious and controversial by nature. Their founder was a radicle political fanatic attorney and he founded a radicle fanatical political organization. Rutherford loved confrontation so he put his followers in in confrontation rich environments. Rutherford loved litigation and he kept his followers in trouble with the law and in court. Rutherford had a bad family life and he designed a system to make sure his followers had fractured families too.

    Hi Gary and everyone,

'Radical, fanatical, political organization,' that is just so the right phrase to describe the JWs and WTBTS.

So, in essence then, the JWs are continuing in the original radical pattern that was set by Russell in the beginning. Certainly they're a 'separatist' organization but crafty in using the laws of the world to fight the world governments.

Are they really just a bunch of trouble makers then. Guerillas armed with Bibles rather than guns?

I should have said, Guerillas armed with Watchtowers rather than guns.

Hi Gill, Not Russell, Rutherford. Russell did not found the Witness group, he founded the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation as a religious publishing house. Rutherford by legal but unethical maneuvering as Corporation attorney stole the assets Russell left in trust, purged Russell's followers and formed his own group under his own leadership.

The Witness group denied it was a religion until into the 1950's. They only claimed to be a religion when their tax free status was in jeopardy. Remember when Rutherford launched the outrageous "Religion Is A Snare and a Racket" campaign? He had Witness people march on the streets carrying those signs.

Now their PR department says they have no problem being called a church.

This is a group that went from being "A" to being "Z" and claim nothing has changed. They are fundamentally dishonest. When the basics are dishonest, only dishonesty can come from the group. Honesty demands openness and the Watch Tower Corporations fight openness with all their resources. Look at the current attempts to shut down open web sites like Quotes and Watchtower Observer. That very action highlights the fact that this corporation has something to gain by having something to hide and having something to hide does not agree with being open and honest.

I don't know that individual JWs are uniquely stupid -- just very.

    Hi Gary!

Thanks for the correction, Rutherford not Russell.

I had no idea that they had claimed not to be a religion until the 1950's. So what exactly were they describing themselves as, or was this just a publishing company as it probably still is.

The pressure on the internet sites, I find worrying. I believe that the internet is the only real way to crack the WTBTS nut. They always seem to manage to get their own way because of covering up their tripe in the law courts. But they have to be stopped. If something as vile as child pornography can't be stopped on the net, then something as important as the truth getting to ordinary people must not be stopped.

No wonder the WTBTS fears the net so much. No one must be allowed to be silenced on this matter of WTBTS lies.

Too many lives have been messed up and ended on their alter to a radical fanatical organization.

As a theocracy! Or, the visible part of it at least.
