    I have a question:

If the WTBTS is so into deceiving everyone and trying to reel in as many newcomers as possible, what does it actually have to gain from this? Why are they there at all? Why are they always trying to switch teachings to make themselves look "believable"? WHY?

It's a cult mindset, some are sincere, many follow blindly. The leaders DO NOT WANT TO BE WRONG! At all costs they will cover up to keep up an appearance of unity. They claim to be speaking for God and teach that God cannot be wrong and their reasoning on this goes in a big circle. When their wrong they will not admit it but how can they be wrong if they are speaking for God, God is never wrong.........

Say this over and over and over again and you'll see why.

Remember that the Watchtower Society in itself is not a thing. It is in reality the men who run it. What do they get out of it? I think they get

    1. A sense of importance.
    2. Fulfillment from having power of millions of people.
    3. A more prestigious and well to do life than they could have in the business world.

They love it and they are supported by other men down to the congregational level that get off on the same return. The money involved, I believe, is a side issue which is simply there to enable the 3 things I mention above.

the love of money doesnt fly,in part, with these guys. although they may still have more privilges than other members at headquarters, they still have to get up every morning and eat a crap breakfast like everyone else. they have to sit there and hopefully stay awake during another morning worship. they have to report to work at the age of 80+ while other people their age are watching the paint dry. and if you have ever lived in the heights, you will see em preachin and teachin.....greed.......i dont think so

    Think about this.

At least you have to give the WTS some credit. See, they are willing to be ridiculed for an organizational change, or a change in one of their doctrines if after further Bible studying they find a clearer understanding. They will not stay stubborn on one belief until eternity. Although there have been many changes, basic Bible truths have not changed:

Jehovah is not part of a trinity. The ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Hell is not a place of torment. etc.

In addition to the previous answers to your question aud8, those who control the WTBTS have received, for example, a legacy of accumulated assets that includes farms, body shops, orchards, printing facilities, purchase contracts with automobile suppliers and all their infrastructure needs, hotels, investment accounts with some of the most prestigious institutions of American commerce, buildings and real estate situated on some of the most lucrative soil in the world.

The WTBTS is not unlike any other enterprise, religious or otherwise, on the face of the earth. If you where in charge of a business of this magnitude, would you not use every manipulative marketing technique and legal design in an effort to perpetuate its growth, or at the very least preserve assets?

Or would you relinquish and publicly acknowledge your companies, past and present obfuscation of substantial errors of judgment and policies that may put your business at significant risk of losing credibility thus market share?

One more thing to think about, based on Flips post.

It is true that the WTS has invested wisely, buying up old, messedup, and run-down buildings in the Heights area that after remodelation are worth much, much more. But the thing that gets me is that most of of the GB and those that take the lead have no experience in business. Most went to bethel when they were 19 or 20 and have been there all their life, yet they make very wise decisions when they invest (a businessman will agree).

Could they actually have the backing of Jehovah? Don't rule it out so quickly. Think about it.

    YOU STUPID FOOL.

Do you *really* think the GB handled all of those arrangements? Or do you think suckers (remember there's one born every minute) who went to college and on to Bethel are handling these arrangements?

    Hmmmmmmm.

    Real Estate Department
    Legal Department
    Counting Department
    and on and on ....

And you are a fool enough to think a bunch of dried up old men arranged all of this.
