The requirements have always been the same.

With that question you are opening the door for many to post the most idiotic, made-up requirements ever heard of.

Pretty much stayed the same since I was there! Only difference was the old "never to have been involved in ANY form of homosexual behaviour"

When I went to Bethel, the application pointedly asked if I would remain until "the Lord takes you away."

That got changed to four years. Then to one. Then, well, here's a quotation from Metatron's Mainstreaming thread:

::Want to become a Bethelite? Well, you're coming to stay for 'life'
No, wait, you're coming for at least 4 'full years'. No, wait a
minute, you have to stay for ONE year! You have to be a regular
pioneer for several years,..... one year......you have to be
a good publisher ..... in the 'truth' for many years, NO, BAPTIZED
    FOR AT LEAST SIX MONTHS!!!!!!

    Get it?

The question on drug use was never on the questionnaire, but for the last ten years or so the majority answer YES as to whether there was any experimentation with drugs. And "degrading music"? I'm serious.

They have had an increasing problem with getting help. Period. And in the early 1990's the progressives grabbed the opportunity and there was a little relaxation on the college issue. The pendulum has swung the other way. Now there are special meetings puzzling over why young men don't pioneer anymore but --gasp-- work or --double-gasp-- go to college.

    They don't get it.

    Requirements for Bethel entrance 2001:

    1. Must be able to turn blind eye.
    2. Must not comment on all the shagging and wife swapping going on in the higher ranks.
    3. Must have big lips for arse kissing.
    4. Must grass on everyone, whether guilty or not.
    5. Must be prepared to not take "the pill" as it makes sisters grumpy. That is if sisters are considered, not that we, The WTBTS are sexist or anything, just that we feel sisters are useless unless in the kitchen cooking or in the loos cleaning and we have enough of those already.
    6. Must be prepared to be treated like shit in the name of God.
    7. Must not masturbate. This pisses the laundry off big time as semen is such a persistant stain.

Are a few I can think of!!!

what happened to the reqirement to pioneer for a year first. by the way didn't it used to be:
    1) study 2 books
    2)baptized at least6 months
    3)pioneer at least 1 year
    4)apply for beathel
has it really changed to just being baptized for 1 year? most elder's kids are baptized when 15/16 or so so this would enable them to get in right out of high school. good gimik for saying you can learn useful skills and never have to go to college. just finish HS, go to bethel, and wait for parents to send more money so they can brag that they got a kid in bethel!

Of course, the application may say more than this…I have never seen one so the KM on the CD is all I have.

    km 3/95 4 Bethel Service-More Volunteers Needed ***
    Qualifications and Requirements:
    1. In view of the physical stamina and strength required for much of this work, presently there is a need for healthy single young men.
    2. To apply for Bethel service, a young man must be dedicated and baptized for at least a year. He must be a devoted, spiritual person.
    3. Also, he must be willing to perform hard work…
    4. Are you between the ages of 19 and 35?
    5. Do you enjoy good health, physically and emotionally?
    6. Can you read, write, and speak English well?
    7. Are you a spiritual person who has a deep love for Jehovah and his organization?
    8. If called to Bethel, would you remain faithfully in that service for at least one year, working at any job given you?
    9. Can some of you brothers, especially those who are now in the pioneer work, make yourselves available?

All who apply should be in good physical, mental, and spiritual health, be able and willing to live and work with many others, and be able to do this without taking time off because of health problems. They should be in good standing with the congregation, have a fine report from the elders and the circuit overseer, speak English well, and be willing to do whatever work is assigned. Regular applicants should have in mind staying for a number of years, learning and gaining experience as they widen out in their sacred service.—2 Cor. 6:13.

    *** km 5/80 6 Bethel Service ***
    1. If you are a baptized male between the ages of 19 and 35,
    2. spiritually and physically strong,
    3. If you are not yet of age what can you do? Since it is the same interest in getting the good news preached that moves some to engage in the pioneer work, it would be a fine step for you to be an auxiliary or regular pioneer in preparing yourself spiritually for Bethel service. Those who serve at Bethel do so not because they have less love for God’s work in the field. Rather, it is a love of God and man that motivates them to take up and continue in Bethel service. They, too, engage in actively preaching and conducting home Bible studies. Pioneering will also help you to learn to lead a more disciplined and organized life that is vital for successful and happy service at Bethel.

*** km 6/79 5 Young Men, Can You Accept This Special Privilege of Service? ***
    1. If you are, and if you are a single brother 19 years of age or older,
    2. in good health and strong, willing and able to work hard, and
    3. are baptized for at least one year,
    4. should be either citizens of the United States or should have legal permanent residency in this country.

    *** km 7/77 3 Branch Letter ***
    1. Single brothers between the ages of 19 and 35
    2. who are wholeheartedly devoted to Jehovah, and
    3. in good health, and who are interested in enlarging your privileges of service, to
    4. come to Bethel for at least a year but with a view to staying much longer.

    *** km 3/76 7 Bethel Service ***
Those desiring to enter Bethel service will be interested to know that there is a new application form. Persons now being called to Bethel are asked to stay for one year as a ‘test of their fitness first,’ and at the end of that year they may request to remain and continue their service. (1 Tim. 3:10) It is hoped that many will take advantage of this privilege of full-time service.

    *** km 8/76 1 Branch Letter ***
    1. dedicated brothers,
    2. especially those who are single and
    3. between nineteen and thirty-five years of age,

*** km 10/76 5 The Pioneer's Part in Gathering More of the "Great Crowd" ***
The pioneer work lays a good foundation for Bethel service. Another young brother, writing as he transferred from the pioneer ranks to become a member of the Bethel family, says, “The last three years of my life as a regular pioneer have certainly been the richest and most meaningful up to now. They have provided vital experience and training in the most urgent work there is. They have drawn me very close to Jehovah and I have learned a great deal about people and have come to love them.” Many others now at Bethel also served as pioneers before coming here and they say that this training was likewise of great benefit to them in many ways. Their deep love for the field service and also their desire to help people, remain with them, and so the experience is of value as they work on weekends and evenings with the congregation to which they are assigned.

*** km 5/74 5 How Are You Using Your Life? ***
    1. Most of the work here is physically hard—work for healthy young men.
    2. So at present, sisters or married couples are not being invited. But if you
    3. are a single brother between 18 and 35 years of age,
    4. in good health and
    5. baptized for more than one year,

    *** km 10/72 1 Branch Letter ***
    1. Those invited are healthy young men and women
    2. between the ages of 19 and 40.
    3. Also healthy married couples over 25 years of age, married more than three years, may apply.
    4. They should be without any obligations or responsibilities at present toward family members.
    5. All applicants for Bethel service must agree to stay at Bethel for [at least four years. But, better still, why not make Bethel service your career, your life’s work?

    *** km 9/71 1 Branch Letter ***
    1. Are you a single brother who is
    2. healthy and willing to work hard to advance Kingdom interests?
    3. expressing that willingness to serve at Bethel for a full year.
    4. The letter should also include your name, address, date of baptism, your age, height and weight, and draft classification. State the kinds of secular work in which you have had experience, and the amount of experience in each. Also, tell us how soon you would be able to come, if invited. Please attach a photograph of yourself. Before the letter is mailed, you should give it to your congregation servant to sign if he recommends you for this service.
    5. Those applying should be at least 19 years of age and not over 35.
    6. It should be kept in mind that much of the work at Bethel requires strong, healthy young men.

    *** km 4/71 4 Question Box ***
 What are the qualifications for Bethel service?
    1. First of all, it is necessary that the individual have a deep love for Jehovah, his Word and his organization, as well as a strong desire to serve his Christian brothers around the world.
    2. Applicants agree to serve at Bethel for at least four years and work hard.
    3. single brothers between 17 and 35 years of age.
    4. Those who apply must be dedicated and baptized for at least a year.
    5. Brothers invited to Bethel are usually chosen from applicants who are regular or special pioneers and who have received a minister’s (IV-D) draft classification, or one exempting them from call.
    6. Brothers who apply for Bethel service should be in good health and able to work hard, as there is much to be done at the Society’s headquarters and farms with the rapid expansion of Jehovah’s organization world wide.

The German km June 01 blames young brothers who go for higher education for their own detriment and who want to pursue a career - as we are soooo close to Armageddon now, MUCH closer than 1925 or 1975, of course, no doubt and encourages youngsters to make ministry for Jhwh their career. Main requirements : "should be able to read and write"

Why does this remind me Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" ? There - in a future also not too far away - humans were created in the factory and ordered by the government according to the actual needs of intelligence, e.g. workers with IQ 40, ready to be happy in their individual assignment ? Have our brothers studied Huxley or is it divine guidance at the proper time ??
