As you know the earthquake has killed an estimated 10,000 people today in Asia. There are over 1,000,000 people now homeless as a result.

If you can help by donating to charitable organisations such as the Red Cross and Oxfam, please do. See if you can donate time to man helplines or help in any other practical way. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/4126241.stm <<< this link shows some organisations involved in the relief work. Oxfams website is setup to recieve donations http://www.oxfam.co.uk/what_you_can_do/give_to_oxfam/donate/asiaquake1204.htm

The red cross UK has info on donating here http://www.redcross.org.uk/news_subsection.asp?id=40238

    The US redcross here http://www.redcross.org/donate/donate.html

In between, please say a prayer.

For those spiritually minded, note the experience of a certain group who did spiritual work to help the deceased to pass over in the 1993 India earthquake: http://www.monroeinstitute.org/memberships/members_section/voyagers/voyages/lifeliner-earthquakeindia-moen.html It is worth a thought about whether you can help in a spiritual way.

Perhaps you could send healing to those injured and bereaved. Why not try Reiki distance healing? Even if you haven't done it before you can simply visualise, or look at on screen, the symbol on this link http://www.reiki.nu/treatment/symbols/honshazeshonen/honshazeshonen.html and think (in as focused a way as you can) of those in asia receiving the help and healing they need.

Please spare a bit of time to do these things if you are able!

Sirona.. great ideas. Tragedies like this give us all a chance to chip in and do as much as possible to help, even if it is just giving 5 minutes to pray about those whose lives were lost, and those who are now homeless.

Maybe we could mention the distance healing in Dansk's next vigil reminder thread, I'm sure he wouldn't mind?

I wen to the first website but it was just general info.

On the other hand, i still dont trust org tha collect moeny.

what's more there are deep pocktets and gov with a lot of $$$, including the usa, they hava a political and moral responsability.

BUT I dont mind going there RIGHT NOW and spend any amount of time helping

every time i try to search for helping org recruting volunteers i find nothing, in fact i have registered with some and never get back a real practical response, but just general info on emails, mailed automatically by machines.

My above inclination is above the fact that MOST of us can help many people in real need LOCALLY.

Thanks Sirona, I just logged on now and will try the distance healing. When I left for work this morning they were still mentioning 11,000 dead. Now it's over 23,000??? Those poor people.

    Thanks Sirona for the post.

I know from first hand experience, life in SE Asia is not easy at the best of times.

I will do what I can and will remember those who have lost their lives and those left alive suffering in my prayers.
