Interesting condition, Jeff. I'll say no, because if you had a time machine you could come to late 2004 and stop by Barnes & Noble on your way to infinity.

Elvis and Me: Priscilla Beaulieu Presley

Light in the Attic: Shel Silverstein

Yeah I would screw up future mankind like I did with myself!

For sheer optimism - The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
For the intellect - Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie
For mild humour plus social conscience - The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens

For the radio programme 'Desert Island Discs' you are given the complete works of Shakespeare and the Bible and therefore can only nominate one to take to your hypothetical desert island, in which case I would take The Achemist.

Since I'm poorly read, I don't have specifics, but I would take

A book of poetry - probably Frost

A book of philosophy - Plato?

A book of science - probably physics. But a math book would be necessary, too.

BTW - To Kill a Mocking Bird is my all-time favorite book - and movie!

    Hugs

    Brenda
