As reported in the Cambridge (UK) Evening News, August 25, 2004, page 5:
A Jehovah's Witness has appeared in court accused of raping a 13-year-old girl three times.
Jon Hines, 61, is alleged to have raped the girl while she was staying at his home over a weekend in 2002.
Hines, formerly of Kingston Close, Huntingdon, and now living in Lowestoft, is on trial at Ipswich Crown Court, where he denies three rape charges.
Maria Deneen, prosecuting, said on one occasion Hines raped the girl after dragging her into a bedroom.
On another occasion she was having a bath and on the third when she was watching television.
Miss Dineen said the girl eventually told her parents and the allegations were made to police two months later.
She told the court that Hines denied the allegations to police and said he found them "amusing".
He also said he had a physical condition which made it impossible for him to rape anyone.
The girl, now aged 15, broke down in tears when it was suggested by defence barrister Andrew Thompson that she had made up the allegations to get attention.
The trial continues.
