As reported in the Cambridge (UK) Evening News, August 25, 2004, page 5:

A Jehovah's Witness has appeared in court accused of raping a 13-year-old girl three times.

Jon Hines, 61, is alleged to have raped the girl while she was staying at his home over a weekend in 2002.

Hines, formerly of Kingston Close, Huntingdon, and now living in Lowestoft, is on trial at Ipswich Crown Court, where he denies three rape charges.

Maria Deneen, prosecuting, said on one occasion Hines raped the girl after dragging her into a bedroom.

On another occasion she was having a bath and on the third when she was watching television.

Miss Dineen said the girl eventually told her parents and the allegations were made to police two months later.

She told the court that Hines denied the allegations to police and said he found them "amusing".

He also said he had a physical condition which made it impossible for him to rape anyone.

The girl, now aged 15, broke down in tears when it was suggested by defence barrister Andrew Thompson that she had made up the allegations to get attention.

    The trial continues.

Not to sound callus but the problem is unless there is good colaborating evidence it is hard to pin a rape. I mean this is a court of law and they in general can't take one persons word for it. So if he did rape her I hope there is lots of evidence.

I think the largest problem is people never teach people how to be raped. If you can't escape your second course of action is try get some evidence. Body hair is a great piece of evidence because it is hard to explain away unless you happen to share the same shower or something. Also skin under the fingernails. Any of this evidence on a person under the age of consent is going to send the perp to jail even if it was consentual at the time.

It will be interesting to hear the results of a medical exam of the man. If his "equipment" truly is non-functional then that girl will have a lot of explaining to do.

I absolutely hate it when someone makes false accusations regarding sexual abuse because it takes away the credibility of those who are truly victimized.

And even if his "equipment' isn't working now how would he prove it wasn't working then?

If the girl really told no one for 2 months then finding evidence will be next to impossible

    hand, or a foreign object.

Very true! The question is whether the girl claimed that only a hand or foreign object was used. If she stated in the report that he penetrated her with his penis, then they will have to look at whether he is able to obtain an erection.

A man does not need to be aroused to get an erection; in fact it is very easy to cause a man to involuntarily become erect to see if he is physically capable. This is where the medical exam comes in to play.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the accused... I'm just saying wait and see what the medical exam demonstrates.

Um if I was 61 years old, innocent, and impotent and a 13 year old said I penatrated her with my defective member not only would I be amused I would be flattered. Also I am wondering are those little blue pills going to be used as evidence? Or maybe he left a popsickle stick and some rubberbands at the scene? Also what if it already rotted off and thats why he could not have raped her?

lol @ Scully... I was actually thinking more along the lines of just letting him go to sleep.

When a man enters REM sleep he will always achieve an erection. This is how doctors are able to tell if erectile dysfunction is caused by physiological or psychological problems. A man with a psychological problem that results in erectile dysfunction will be able to achieve an erection while asleep whereas a man with a physiological cause will not.

On a side note, this is also the cause of "morning wood".

He also said he had a physical condition which made it impossible for him to rape anyone.

What condition could that be, since rape is not only intercourse?
