Apostates are to be warned "Twice" BEFORE being DFed.

In reality, I don't think they even need to DF you officially. As long as someone is willing to start a rumour about you to the effect that "a friend of a friend of a friend" heard that you were now Apostate?, it's just as good as DFing you ultimately. Once the rumour is out there, any JW that has heard it will avoid you like the plague.

And when this happens, you can have fun with them at WalMart. Run up to them and yell "BOO!"

Seriously, I have one cousin (that I didn't much care for when I was still a JW) in the org, still. Saw him and his wife in WalMart and they nearly knocked over an old lady to avoid me. Win/Win situation in some circumstances... this being one of them.

I think that once you are suspected of being an apostate they will drop the axe on you---no questions asked.

Cybersis....you hit the nail on the head. Apostasy is worse to an Elder body than any other form of sin in which action is taken quickly.

Narkmeister......you were railroaded my man! You never spoke against the society, said "you weren't sure" about things, and said you would associate with your friend and they DFed you! Had your sin been of another type they would not have acted in such a harsh manner. The information concerning 'two witnesses' and '2 warnings', preceeded the I.S. book if I'm not mistaken but I guess it's a little late for that. Thanks for sharing that bud.

And with the way the WTS has demonized the Internet, just possessing a computer with more than "Watchtower Library CD" on it, is going to put you in an "at risk" category, and subject to plenty of nosing around.

I always used to get the items on Computers, since I was in the industry, and I used to love toning down the stuff on the Internet. I mean, how could I not, given that I used it every day of life from about 1995 onwards? Hypocrisy never was my strong suit.

I had plenty of discussions with other Elders and also CO and DO's about "wise use of technology" though

You have to wonder about those that discuss the JW singles site and other similar pro sites. I mean someone had to do a search to find them and you have to wonder what else they may have turned up. Of course any good dub will flee from the first sign of apostates and finding themselves on a website such as this would have many clicking the back buttons with a shudder. Truly they have done a good job about conditioning "the flock" against things they have difficulty directly controlling. I remember here a summer or so a go a guy we used to think was pretty cool (he was in his early 20's) in the congregation gave a presentation on the assembly about how the internet had been ruining his life and sucking him away from his family endangering his spirituality etc. And how since he had cut back and made more time for study he is a more spiritual person. Now he wisely uses the society's research tools in his personal study as well.

    So true LT.

It's pretty hard to not be able to easily find JW smut on the internet as any related word about them will pop up more sights than C.T. Russell has wheat!
