    Survivor,

    I just read your post:

When I think that I gave up TWO not one chance at happiness because of the org I can scream. I had two worldy options for marriage when I was a JW(no one asked me out in 7 years, not even a date)

Hang around here on the Board. Some people will completely relate to your experience. Talk about a dysfunctional religion!!

BTW: Your screen name is very fitting.

JW,s First of all Im a SHE not HE.

Second of all I was INACTIVE yes! NOT disfellowshipped and what is the society,s councel in INACTIVE ones? To keep exorting them as a brother(or sister) they are WEAK and need encouragement.I went to the JW singles site for ENCOURAGEMENT because I got NONE here ok? I also made GIRLFRIENDS there,I was not just looking for a mate(which is natural by the way)

Third You have only read 2 of my posts,Im very new here and you dont know me from beans yet you SOUND just like the judgemental, know it all, critical minds that I needed to escape from.

Think what you like of me(you dont even know me,lol) I dont care. Jehovah knows my limits,YOU do not!

P.s,,,I did NOT join the organization just to marry. You dont even know me.

Also the fact that I was TERRIBLY alone was NOT the only reason I left.

    There are other reasons.

By the way I wont repsond to you anymore about me because I,ve defended my feelings for too many years and Im plain worn out to be judged any further. No energy left adspecially to some person on cyber space who does not even know me or what I,ve been through. I need not explain myself to you or justify WHY I was on the JW site.(as an inactive NOT disfellowshipped person)

    Thanks

    Ann

Im sure many of you here know EXACTLY what I mean.

Unfortunately, he doesn't know mine which is why I believe either he never existed, or no longer exists.

This is a cop out. I and others have had corespodance with the watchtower. They only two sites they endorse are watchtower.org and jw-media.org. They (due to legal reasons) give no oppinion on sites not owned by them and tell you to use your discretion while surfing the internet. So the old men in brooklyn have nothing to do with it. Who ever this guy is he is probally in trouble with his locals.

    ########

    spoken like an uniformed jw--

he indicates that he has correspondance with the wt, that tells me he is not or has ever been an Elder esp recently- for he would have had no need to contact the wt society, since CO have highlighted this in their meeting with elders for some time

while i is partly correct the wt does not "OFFICIALLY ENDORSE OR CONDEMN they do so privately-

back in 1995/95 a site called MP Technologies broke on the scene it was an excellent site, with elders providing tips on talks, illustrations, etc, much discussion of the assemblies took place-- the guys who ran this site help provide all kind of software to help elders do talks, keep the congo time, accountsm, etc- nice little ulity software tools- this was before the CDROM- some bro had actually scanned the publications call Q-SEARCH i think I HAD A COPY and it was the greatest little tool-

at any rate the wt contacted them and told them to take off any "Copy righted matrerial" so that was cool we thought, but then in a few months later they were contacted again via the CO to "Consider" taking it down-

if you go to the nov 98 km it addresses that no jw should have any site related to jw on the net- it is very broad THEREBY giving elders and co lots of room to work with-

because this is a position drivien org, the man will either be threaten with lose of previlges as a ms or elder or they will never be appointed-

if that does not work then by means of talks, comments by elders or co and do at conventions such a person if known in the hall to host such a site will be singled out and dogged

pretty much like jw who went to college

wt never said you can't go to college - but they so demonized it all knew- back in the early 90's we discussed many times how the wt would NEVER TELL JW TO stay off the net per say, but they would demonize it so badly as we have seen

when you ref that you got some informaton off the net the avg jw THINKS APOSTATES AND PORNO SITE

well at least we know some jw are willing to come to apostates sites despite their instructions- smile

I can certainly understand your frustration Nosferatu. I,ve been very angry not only with the organization but God himself.I think I,ve probably called him every name in the book,LOL

By the way is Nosferatu the Dracula movie from Europe?

I seen the original and the remake.

    What a brilliant vampire movie!

And what scenery, set in old Euorope with the old castles.

Honestly Survivor, I've never seen the movie. There's a song by Blue Oyster Cult called "Nosferatu", and I thought it was appropriate for use on this site considering what the reference is.

I'm sorry about the he/she thing. I've tried to edit and correct it in my last post.

I am unfamiliar with the site. I thought it was strictly a dating service.

Third You have only read 2 of my posts,Im very new here and you dont know me from beans yet you SOUND just like the judgemental, know it all, critical minds that I needed to escape from.

You're user name may be new, but per your first note on this topic, you've been lurking here for a couple of years. Not days, years. You also had an old user name and had to sign up under a new user id because your old one didn't work. That sounds to me like you've been here and are familiar with the board. This board is mostly ex-JWs. People who stick around here for a couple of years are either JW apologists or have given up on the JWs. Seeing as though you've (A) been here a couple of years and (B) you seem critical of the JWs, I was assuming you've given up (at least mentally) on the JWs. Under that assumption, I was wondering why you'd be on a site to help you meet other JWs.

I'm personally so thankful that I never got "unevenly yoked" to a JW. After I left, it could have led to so much heartache if she wasn't willing to leave too.

I think you also confuse my viewpoints with what I am guessing a JW's viewpoint would be. I used to be a JW and can still remember how I used to form opinions of things and how other JWs felt about things.

Think what you like of me(you dont even know me,lol) I dont care. Jehovah knows my limits,YOU do not!

You're right. I don't know you. That is why (if you reread the post) I asked what you were on that board for. I also pondered several possibilites. I didn't automatically place you into any of these categories. But, by your latest post, it seems like the one about finding somebody to motivate you back was pretty close. Your latest post seems to be saying you were looking for encouragement.

Yes, I made some assumptions about you. I assumed you were mentally seperated from the JWs as well as inactive. Maybe that's wrong.

JWS, your post does come across that you are assuming why people join online dating services and what Survivor's motives might be. If you are going to speculate about such sites and the motives of those who join, why don't you use an imaginary example, rather than analyze a fellow poster?

After twenty years of being the good girl, involving myself in wholesome activities, and expecting the "ideal man" to plop in my lap (after all, wouldn't my prospective mate naturally be involved in similar activities?), I registered with a service. Here is the reasoning that took me there:

    • Effeminate men are attracted to the same interests as mine (sing in the choir, oil painting). I am not attracted to effeminate men, no matter how lovely they may be.
    • I don't "do" the bar scene, have no idea what to do if I went there, and even if I did, I would have a big, fat, mark on my forehead (Take me for a ride! I have no clue what I am doing!).
    • When I need to hire a new employee, which requires nearly as much compatibility as a spouse, I advertise, interview, and select. Why would I think that selecting a marriage partner would be any different?

It may be true that people who use such services "can't get dates". All I am suggesting is that there are many more people ready to admit that finding a good date is tough, and perhaps dating services do not carry the same stigma it had in the past. Certainly there is a market for it, if the internet is any kind of indicator.

Sure, the WTBTS would hate it. They can't control it. It's new. They never had such newfangled methods in the fifties, therefore it must be suspect.
