I do believe that the bible is a guide on how to live but too many of us think that all we need is the knowledge and we’re all set.
This is a great analogy! Just because we follow the recipe EXACTLY, doesn't men we'll come out with the perfect end result either.
Whenever I cook, I use a recipe. But instead of exacting out 1/4 teaspoon of spice, I "eye" it. Sometimes I even *gasp!* add my own ingredients. I use recipes for the ingredients and an approximation (a guide) but rarely do I follow it exactly. A dash of this there, an extra flavoring that here. Cooking should be fun! Not a stressful experience of getting every little thing right. Same with life. God put us here to enjoy it. If we're more wrapped up in getting it "done right" by someone's black and white rules, then we're missing the point altogether.
