Alas Babylon is one of my favorite books
Great book. First book I read as a teenager that dealt with the possibility of nuclear war in a somewhat believable way. Seven Days In May was also good.

I keep praying that everyone would take the opportunity to take a hard and long look at what Jesus done for each and everyone of us, the very heart of Jesus who loves each and every one of us. Who loves us unconditionally.
If he loves me unconditionally, why is he going to kill me? I am a good person...I have a good family...I just got totally screwed by an organized religion and choose not to join another. For that I'm going to die by Jesus' hand? Sorry, I just don't buy it and frankly want no part of it.
You fail to reason on the fact that literally BILLIONS of people haven't a clue about the man, yet he is going to smite them anyway. If he doesn't smite them.......they sure the hell aren't going to be taken up with the rest of the group who were fortunate enough to have gotten a "witness" about him. I think the whole idea is a disgrace to humanity to concieve of your fellowman in this fashion. How biggoted can you get?
amen brother gumbo...
The scare tactic Yizu is the fact that if you don't join, you will die. Similar to the Watchtower. Similar to ALL organized religions who feel they have the only way to salvation.
The blow up doll story was hilarious. If it is from a real life story, then it's sad that a woman was so whacked that she ran out in to traffic to be taken by Jesus. Sounds like an urban legend to me and it was one hell of a funny scene in Six Feet Under.
Are you wearin your levi skirt or your swim trunks?
Gumby
Aww Gumbo, you been thinking of me?
I wore my "swim trunks" all day. Took the kids to the pool, it's hot here! Now just boxers and a tank top.

Our job in the present day is to get the word out as much as we can, there's still tons of people (mostly villagers) who don't have access to TV or radio, much less newspapers. The rainforest people still live the old way w/o television and radio, so they really haven't seen much of the outside world other than their own.I don't know what the exact statistics are about how many people still live w/o TVs and radios in many parts of the world, but many missionaries are trying to get to them. Russia, while they lived under Communism for many years didn't have access to the information to the gospel of Jesus Christ and those that were indoctrinated under Communism prolly still believe the way they were taught to believe and dismisses anything religious. I suppose the same for any Communism. I realize that we're not going to be able to reach everyone in time before the Gospel, but according to scripture, during the Tribulation, there will be angels sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and none will be able to ignore them.
Revelation 14:6 Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth?to every nation, tribe, language and people. They will be there covering areas that is unreachable by new converts during the Trib period. So the bases are covered. But at the same time, there are many Christians today who aren't doing what Jesus has commanded us to do....
Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Many aren't doing that, so many may lose some rewards under the test of fire....
1 Corinthians 3:10-15 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.
What he "builds", meaning what preaching work he or she has done. Note that if his work survives the test of fire, he will receive his reward, but what fails the test, he will receive no reward, but is still saved by the gospel of Jesus Christ that the person accepted and received on the very day. Once you are saved, you can't lose it, you're saved, period. No works can amount to it or subtract to it. The WTS doesn't teach that, that's the dangerous part of their doctrine, that you have to go door to door and share their version of the "kingdom", to conduct "bible studies", to attend meetings, etc. Those are works and none of that will save them because they have not been told that they can be saved from their sins just simply by accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. There isn't any other way. All cults does that, they never tell their followers about the way to Jesus for salvation. All of them. Anyway, while we who are mere mortals, we're doing everything we can, those that takes Jesus command to make disciples seriously will go out there to the job at the very best we can. Imagine if every single Christian who does exactly what Jesus has asked of us to do, we could cover alot more areas that the gospel has never reached before, risking life and limb in order to do so. Several years ago, 2 American missionaries went to Eygpt to help the poor people in the most poorest areas of Eygpt. While they were there, they also shared the gospel of Jesus Christ. (This was reported on CNN) Some Muslim there didn't like hearing what he had heard, so he concoted a story to the Muslim people that he saw those missionaries rip out the pages of the Koran and used them as toilet paper. This enraged the people. So they went out searching for them, when they found them, they seized them. They dragged them out into the open area, beating them all the while to the spot. The man who invented this false story stood before the crowd of people gathering around and told them what he saw that they had done. Stoking a fury from the crowd, many shouted, "Kill them!" So the missionaries were beheaded on the spot. They died as myraters(s?) for Christ and they died for their faith. Many died like that throughout the ages and many more will die for sharing the gospel of Christ. The Tribulation period will be the worst period in the history of Christiandom, many will be killed for their faith. Here's a link on about many Christians who've been killed for their faith.... http://www.inthefaith.com/archives/cat_persecution.php 2 baptist missionaries was killed not long ago in Iraq. Most all came from newsfeeds. Jesus spoke of these days, especially to those that are in of the faith
Matthew 24:3-14 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. "Tell us," they said, "when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?" Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ, ' and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. "Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
What's sad to me personally is during the Trib period, many will fall away from Jesus after they had accepted the gospel because they will become fearful for their lives and the lives of their families. Many will accept the mark to save their own hides so they don't get killed and many will "make a deal" and named names those who still remain in the faith of Jesus so the "cops" can arrest them and put them to death. A sad day that will be indeed. Yiz
Hey yizuman
You got an infection while you were staying in that hostel. But don't worry, it's not lethal, and some people even get cured

So this message is so important that thousands of missionaries die while preaching Jesus.....when god has angels that are going to take over and finish off what you guys leave unfinished? Do you really believe that stuff? Why doesn't god let the angels do it now and save some lives? He could even speak if he wanted.....but he'd rather sacrafice missionaries.....after all, he can bring them back to life from a beating or torture......nuthin to it for him eh?
Good lord!

He doesn't want to kill you, he wants to save you. The bible says, "It is not God's will that anyone should perish, but have everlasting life" Being good just doesn't save you, acknowledging that we are indeed sinners and in need of a Savior, that is, Jesus Christ. Being screwed by a false organization doesn't mean that Jesus himself will sucker you. I don't follow any kind of man made organization, I follow Jesus Christ himself. I follow the one who was born w/o sin, the one who died for my sins on the cross so I can escape judgement for my sins and to have my sins washed away and be forgiven. The WTS does not teach that, they teach you that you have to do good works by going to door to door, do bible studies, attend meetings, etc. Doing works will not bring about salvation. Only Jesus can bring salvation.
Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
Ephesians 2:8-9For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.
Speaking of "good", Jesus was called "good" and his reply was...
Mark 10:18 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good?except God alone.

Because God's way is not our way. Yiz
I don't want to debate it. I don't believe it, you do. Simple as that.
