Oh, wait, being concerned about others would take time away from the Worldwide Preaching Work. Can't have that. Gotta get those stats up!

Wouldn't it be nice if the Tower stopped demanding that all Dubs be evangelists/preachers, and allowed congregational members to count time for acting in the "pastoral" role (one of the other ministries mentioned in Ephesians 4), those hours spent helping members of the congregation?

Actually it is allowed but stilted to volunteer work like the building work, HLC, branch service, or legal. Actually preaching is only for the anointed. Al other service is optional but trying to convince the zealots that is thought work. If you look at the numbers I think the RF are finding that out on their own.

So in other words, the pastoral role, that of visiting and helping out the sick, the elderly and the depressed, can't be counted towards WT brownie points. Can you imagine the way attitudes could shift within the org (esp. at grass roots levels) if they did allow such stuff to be counted?

Consider if each publisher donated $5 a month into the Kingdom Hall fund. Over the course of a year, that publisher would have donated $60. Multiply that by our one thousand inactive publishers and you have $60,000 in lost donations.

That in a nut shell is why they have written the article. As far as the hours etc. they wouldn't give a crap if it didn't affect their monetary contributions.

In particular, they don't know what to do anymore - or how to 'guilt' or punish

people who refuse to be 'guilted' or motivated into more useless meeting attendance or a sterile, phoney 'ministry'.

What's the next step in this decline? Hysterical threats? More feeble attempts to motivate the inactive?

Well said metatron. I think what amazes me is that the tactics never change. If they were smart they would downplay the guilt and punishment and focus on showing true love and concern. They certainly would not be seeing the mass exodus that is occuring. But as we know, their motive is money and power and they have no interest in helping people whatsoever. Good trees don't produce bad fruit and vice versa. Thanks for the information truthseeker...good stuff!
