I think they do the baptism thing in a very strange way. The bible stresses the importance of baptism prior to indoctrination in acts 2 we see that it was on the very day that people heard the good news they were baptized . They didn't go thru 6 months of training and comprehension drills before being dunked . The WTBTS would have people believe that even if you die while studying as long as you believe in your heart the WTBTS is presenting the truth you will be deemed worthy of resurection to life . If we look at what jesus says in John 3 we get a sense of the fact that baptism is vital for salvation .

I think baptism was something that identified people as christians and they were born again , it sounds like once again they are trying to convince people to be obedient to a publishing corporation.

Notice it does not say to gods spirit-directed org but in association with. Remember JWs don't have worldy freinds, but associates. Also it does not declare what organization it is. It could be argued the catholic church or something. This is a ruse to make it sound like a JW is baptised to the watchtower more of the game of getting JWs to listen to them for no reason.

The best way to break free of this hoodwink is to do what jesus says and make disciples. The watchtower gives uplifting experienes of people getting baptized in drainage cannals and wine barrels at a spur of the moment. Except in the free world. I say if a eprson wants to be a JW and holds a basic grasp of the bible they should be baptized on the spot when ever they want. The watchtower is trying to scare off normal people with all its rules so only idiots or whimps stay in the org. The only required meeting is the memorial BTW. Preaching is for the annointed. Good conduct for the elders and the anoited. Everything else is optional, an conscience matter. If anyone want to become a JW in Los Angeles I'll baptize them.

lol . They think it's up to them to appoint someone . They even have elders meetings to determine who they feel has grown spiritually enough to handle the responsiblities of selling WTBTS publications . They don't even believe the great crowd has any spirituallity yet they think they can determine a persons spirituallity, what it all comes down to is a persons ability to remember what the WTBTS prints in the publications and sales presentations .

"what it all comes down to is a persons ability to NOT TO remember what the WTBTS prints in the publications"

The reason is the great crowd is not "christians" or saved. I assumed by now they would refer to the great crowd as being saved but that is not the case. They separate us away from the anointed by are masters of tone control. The even replace great crowd more with other sheep to sound like we are more christian that the "worldly people'. It is not fair. In real life these are the the righteous and the wicked. I have no idea why they say evil people will come back too but they don't trust the "Great Crowd" Because they know it means nothing. That hindu guy is the great crowd too.

The great crowd support the small number of those with heavenly hopes, who take the lead in the preaching work. (Matthew 24:14; 25:40) The other sheep give this support, although they know that they will face opposition because at the beginning of these last days, Christ Jesus and his angels cast Satan and his demons out of heaven.

Members of the great crowd are not participants in the new covenant. However, they associate with the Israel of God and live with them in their "land." (Isaiah 66:8) So it is reasonable to say that they too come under Jehovah?s undeserved kindness and under the law toward Christ. While not participants in the new covenant, they are beneficiaries of it.

God does not adopt them as spiritual sons, as he does the 144,000. But he does declare the other sheep righteous, in the sense that Abraham was declared righteous as God?s friend.?Matthew 25:46; Romans 4:2, 3; James 2:23.

*** wt chap. 9 p. 79 The Power of the Resurrection Hope ***

    2

Mercifully, by means of the resurrection, Jehovah has opened up the priceless opportunity for untold multitudes of people who have died to come back from the dead and enjoy eternal life. This means that you can have the heartwarming hope that someday, in God?s new world, you will be reunited with loved ones who have fallen asleep in death.?Mark 5:35, 41, 42; Acts 9:36-41.

*** wt chap. 9 p. 87 The Power of the Resurrection Hope ***

It means that Hades, the common grave of mankind, is totally destroyed. It goes out of existence, being completely emptied of its dead, because in addition to resurrecting all faithful worshipers of Jehovah, Jesus will also mercifully bring back even unrighteous ones. God?s Word assures us: "There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."?Acts 24:15.

    14

None of these unrighteous ones are raised simply to be judged worthy of death again. In the righteous environment that will prevail earth wide under God?s Kingdom, they will be helped to bring their lives into harmony with Jehovah?s ways. The vision showed that "the scroll of life" will be opened. Hence, they will have opportunity to get their names entered in it. They will be "judged individually according to their deeds" performed after their resurrection. (Revelation 20:12, 13) Thus, viewed from the standpoint of the final outcome, theirs can prove to be "a resurrection of life" and will not unavoidably be "a resurrection of [condemnatory] judgment."?John 5:28, 29.

infact almost all procedural changes are undertaken for legal reasons, not new scriptural understanding as many would have you believe

    Correctamoondoe Shotblaster!

They have taught WELL before the Baptismal change, that any baptisms prior to your conversion to a witness.....was meaningless. They have also taught , long before this Baptismal change, that they alone will posses the earth and be saved out of all mankind, so as Shotgun mentioned......it wasn't a new teaching........simply politics.
