There is an interesting contradiction in that letter:
Our purpose for registering with the Department of Public Information as a nongovernmental organization (NGO) in 1991 was to have access to research material available on health, ecological, and social problems at the United Nations library facilities.
then at the end of the same paragraph:
Moreover, NGOs are informed by the United Nations that "association of NGOs with the DPI does not constitute their incorporation into the United Nations system, nor does it entitle associated organizations or their staff to any kind of privileges, immunities or special status."
The last I heard, having a library card entitles the holder to privileges of library use. The UN quote is basically saying that membership was not necessary for the privilege of library access.
And it still doesn't negate the fact that the June 1, 1991 Watchtower slammed Christendom for having the exact same NGO status that they were in the process of applying for at the time that the Watchtower article was being written and approved for publication.
