A beautifully written and touching article. Newspaper articles like this do more damage to the society than any amount of bashing. By my calculations, they will need to knock on 7,575,914 doors to overcome the negative implications of this single article.

She's right. People simply can't understand. Death is the only analogy for it, that captures the suddenness of it. It's not as if the relationships gradually sour over time, because of your religious differences. It's not as if your parents and friends shun you in anger over what you've done. One moment, they love you (even if they're sorry that you're in trouble with the elders); the next moment, they're gone. A cold, surgical removal.
I can't think of anything else like it.
