I saw the ad blondie was talking about in one of her posts. I, along with all my kids were quite surprised the Society was taking this PR road. Anyway, the ad depicted a young girl chatting on line with what she thought was another teen (boy). He asked her to a concert and to meet at the mall . . . the camera pulls back to reveal some fat hairy guy swilling beer and wearing a wife-beater . . . the ad was pretty good, but nothing that hasn't been done before by other public service orgs.

You can view the ad on the Official WT site.

Well, at least it's a useful social message, as opposed to the diarhea that usually spews out of their mouths.

You know those little newspapers that sell everything from dogs to used cars and washing machines? The Giant Nickle, the Nickle's Worth, some such name usually. At any rate the last one I saw spouted a classified ad for anyone interested in JWs to call this 800#. First I've seen anything like that either. Advertising goes redneck.

When we first were thinking about Leaving The Truth?, it was an ad in the local PennySaver newspaper with a 1-800 number (it was 1-800-WHY-1914) that we responded to. It was actually an Apostate? ad. The WTS wouldn't spend their money on newspaper advertising like that... they have 6 million free advertisements all over the globe!!

When the girl types in the word "coolness" I wondered when was the last time this expression was used by a teenager in this century!? Wasn't this expression popular in the late nineties in a tv show about a kid who was always getting himself out of trouble, like Ferris Beuler or something?

Ferris Bueler was a failed attempt at a show back in like 94 i think.

But I remember 95 was the last time I heard a teenager use the term coolness. It was the only time I ever heard a teenager use the term coolness.

Well here is the story. This one "punk" guy was standing around me in Gym class by the tennis courts. He was talking to me in front of his friend. He said "Here is you on the coolness scale (hand low) here is me on the coolness scale (hand high)."

He decided to demonstrate one more time within about 5 seconds so I decided to change the balance. I pushed his to the ground. As he got back up I pushed him down again before he could get all the way up. He didnt have a "coolness" take on the situation at that point. He didnt say anything. Yes I was still a dub at this point.
