Did anyone actually really look forward to the special assembly days? I always thought it was a great way to ruin a perfectly good weekend.

Sorry freedom96. I could understand some people looking foreward to the convention (ie travelling), but there was nothing spectacular about the assemblies.

I've never ever liked assemblies!!!

Now that I'm doing this slow fade thing, it's so very hard to just stay awake during the program.

OMG assemblies I wanted to kill myself during those. We actually had a duck pond right next to our assembly hall as well. I would consider going for one day, if only to get another one of those cool little hand held fans. I used to love the vendors selling frozen treats outside too, that was fun. Since they moved it from the Civic Center though that doesn't happen anymore. GRRRR! If I did go I wouldn't be as blatent as wearing a Silent Lambs shirt, I would love to wear a tie that was like a large gay pride flag, see how many people pick up on it. And funny expiriences at assemblies, I actually was sitting next to someone who was sick (oh the fun for me) so his mother goes and buys him a Cherry Del's lemonade. I looked over and my brain literally yelled "Bad move mom person" I thought everyone heard it because as he was drinking everyone turned to look at this kid. Well long story shortened significantly about 5 minutes later the kid yaks all over the sister sitting infront of him, because of the stadium seating he was above her and it absolutely covered her. It was gross. I had to move seats it was so nasty. Then came the brothers that cleaned it up....LOL how can someone want to be an elder so much that they'll clean up puke? Now that's devotion to a cause!

The conventions are fund raisers and pep sales rallies. In some areas where the publishing corporation owns convention facilities, the conventions are an industry. The assemblies were a brilliant idea explored by Rutherford and tweaked by Knorr and perfected by Adams Inc.
