How many accounts of the Bibles use of excesses can you recall ? I will start off with a favourit of mine.

The inauguration of Solomons temple and the sacrifices offered .2Chron.7 :4-5 , 22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep ? c,mon

really ? Maybe they were just adept at using hyperbole for effect .

What others can you come up with ?

How do you even slaughter that many animals after you have herded them to the required location? What do you do with all the blood and guts? It would be impossible to sacrifice 22,000 cattle on that altar during that celebration, maybe they just took a steak from each animal. And a lamb chop.

    Yet more Bible twaddle.

Not sure if this is the type of stuff you are referring to but the books of Kings and Judges come to mind as being full of hyperbole.

How about ~6,000,000 Israelites traipsing around the desert for 40 years. Yeah, like that would work.

The bible writers bullshitted for emphasis and self glorification about many things even about their select god

I once heard Jewish people were known for their use of hyperbole.

You can miss the forest for the trees when it comes to the Bible. Example. Jehovah's witnesses arguing over if Christ died on a cross or a stake. By doing this, they miss the whole point of the sacrifice itself.

Focus on the message, I say!

2 Kings 19:35 That night the angel of the LORD went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. When the surviving Assyrians woke up the next morning, they found corpses everywhere.

Come on, 185,000 bodies lying everywhere. Who counted the bodies to put the sum total in the bible?

How long would it take to count 185,000 bodies scattered ever-where?

How long would it take to count all those scattered bodies if you counted one ever minute??

    Like 128 days

NOW IMAGINE COUNTING ONE MILLION MEN to make sure your wrote the correct sum in God's inspired Word---the Bible.

Once an Ethiopian named Zerah attacked Judah with an army of 1,000,000 men and 300 chariots.

Even that's saying a bit much.

All indications are that they never intended books like Genesis to be viewed as literal in the first place.

They were theological and cultural teaching aids.

A modern cow will feed around 1500 people, one meal. Cows back then were probably smaller and ancient people were adept at preserving meat with salts, drying, boiling, roasting etc.

A national event affecting say 5-7 million people could have easily prompted them to eat barbeque, soups and lamb sandwiches for a few days and preserve the rest for later.

All indications are that they never intended books like Genesis to be viewed as literal in the first place.

    Vidiot,

Jesus quoted or directly referenced Genesis at least 8 times as real history. More of his statements only make sense assuming a historical Genesis.
