Last night I was snuggled up in my overstuffed living room chair, sipping wine by candlelight with Bob Seger tunes playing on the CD player.............it evoked quite a mood in me that followed me into this morning at work................two songs that touch/ed me deeply are posted below............how about anyone else.................anyone love Bob Seger? If so, which of his tunes is your favorite?

Bob-Seger's Lyrics - Her Strut Lyrics

Words and music by bob seger

    She?s totally committed
    To major independence
But she?s a lady through and through
She gives them quite a battle
    All that they can handle
    She?ll bruise some
    She?ll hurt some too
But oh they love to watch her strut
Oh they do respect her but
They love to watch her strut

Sometimes they?ll want to leave her
Just give up and leave her
But they would never play that scene
In spite of all her talking
    Once she starts in walking
The lady will be all they ever dreamed
Oh they?ll love to watch her strut
Oh they?ll kill to make the cut
They love to watch her strut

Yeah love to watch her strut
    Watch her strut

    In your time
    The innocence will fall away
    In your time
    The mission bells will toll
    All along
    The corridors and river beds
    There'll be sign
    In your time

    Towering waves
Will crash across your southern capes
    Massive storms
    Will reach your eastern shores
    Fields of green

Will tumble through your summer days
    By design
    In your time

    Feel the wind
And set yourself the bolder course
    Keep your heart
    As open as a shrine
    You'll sail the perfect line

    And after all
The dead ends and the lessons learned
    After all
The stars have turned to stone
    There'll be peace
    Across the great unbroken void
    All benign
    In your time
    You'll be fine
    In your time

    Sunny -

"Her Strut" is my most favorite Bob Seger song - in fact, I like that whole album (Against the Wind)! I also like "The Horizontal Bop"... (I know where some minds are right now!)

Sounds like you're feeling really good about things right now..! Good for you!

    Ahh..the good old days

    "Old Time Rock and Roll"

    "Still The Same"

    "Against The Wind"

    "Shame on the Moon"

brings back memories -- good and bad

Music like this gets linked to certain events... sometimes if the event wasn't so good we hate the song for no reason at all

But other times it just makes us smile

Yeah, Growedup, I am and I'm not.............I guess if I had to put it in words, I'd say I feel good about who I am and where I am about 99%..........the other 1% needs work........and, of course, there's always the old bugaboo relationship stuff that is there when you are living with someone............but, I guess the reason I had to post this was because I've felt soooo awful for so many years, never feeling comfortable, never being able to get rid of that nagging anxiety, that I wanted to share a good moment! LOL!

Gopher, I totally agree with you about that............that album was my ex's favorite album. I heard it sooo many times in the past, but, amazingly, last night when my now livein popped it into the CD it evoked mostly positive memories and feelings! There's a saying music soothes the savage beast.........it can, but it can also bring on deep hurt and pain also............been there, done that............there are a couple of songs that I could not listen to in the past without having a major melt down of negative emotions.........but, I've since heard them play, and the saying "time heals all wounds" is so true.........given enough time, our hearts and feelings heal............then we reach a whole new plateau of understanding and feeling........it's kinda magical in some ways!

I'm trying to remember who "watch her strut' was written about? Was it Jane Fonda?? Been so long but I seem to recall that..

I love Bob Seger! Great road music! I think Night Moves, Old Time Rock & Roll, Night Moves, Against the Wind, Like a Rock, We've Got Tonight are my favorites!..

Seger is great. I think my favorite song is Roll Me Away. I've always thought that a Seger's Greatest Hits CD should be included with the purchase of every motorcycle. I love to hop on my Harley, slip on the headphones and the mini-disk player and hit the streets.
His music fits many moods and not a few times have I used it to persuade a certain SheilaM to follow me to the other room ;)

    Turn the Page

On a long and lonesome highway, East of Omaha,
You can listen to the engine moaning out its one lone song
You can think about the woman, or the girl you knew the night before,
But your thoughts will soon be wandering, the way they always do, When you're riding sixteen hours and there's nothing else to do, And you don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through,

Say, here I am, on the road again. There I am, up on the stage,
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.

Well, you walk into a restaurant, strung out from the road,
You can feel the eyes upon you as you're shaking off the cold,
You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode.
Most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can.
The same old cliches, is that a woman or a man?
You always seem out-numbered, you don't dare make a stand.

Here I am, on the road again. There I am, up on the stage,
Here I go, playing star again.
There I go, turn the page.

When you're out there in the spotlight, you're a million miles away,
Every ounce of energy, you try and give away,
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play.
Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed,
With the echo from the amplifiers ringing in your head,
You smoke the days last cigarette, remembering what she said.

Now here I am, on the road again. There I am, up on the stage,
Here I go, playing star again,
There I go, turn the page.

Here I am, on the road again. There I am, up on the stage,
There I go, playing star again,
There I go, there I go.

    Night Moves
    Bob Seger

I was a little too tall
    Could've used a few pounds
    Tight pants points hardly reknown
She was a black haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own sitting way up high
    Way up firm and high

Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy
Out in the back seat of my '60 Chevy
Workin' on mysteries without any clues
    Workin' on our night moves
Trying' to make some front page drive-in news
Workin' on our night moves in the summertime
    In the sweet summertime

We weren't in love oh no far from it
We weren't searching for some pie in the sky summit
We were just young and restless and bored
    Living by the sword
And we'd steal away every chance we could
To the backroom, the alley, the trusty woods
I used her she used me
    But neither one cared
    We were getting our share

    Workin' on our night moves
Trying to lose the awkward teenage blues
    Workin' on out night moves
    In the summertime
    And oh the wonder
    Felt the lightning
And we waited on the thunder
    Waited on the thunder

I woke last night to the sound of thunderHow far off I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from 1962
Ain't it funny how the night moves
When you just don't seem to have as much to lose
    Strange how the night moves
    With autumn closing in

    I love this song

    Oooooooooh!!! I luuuuuuurve Bob Seger!!!

My Favorite is "Shame on the Moon" -- an excellent West Coast Swing, if you care to dance with meeee!!!

Until you?ve been beside a man
You don?t know what he wants
You don?t know if he cries at night
You don?t know if he don?t
    When nothin comes easy
    Old nightmares are real
Until you? ve been beside a man
You don?t know how he feels

    Once inside a woman?s heart
A man must keep his head
    Heaven opens up the door
Where angels fear to treadSome men go crazy
    Some men go slow
Some men go just where they want
    Some men never go

    Oh blame it on midnight
    Ooh shame on the moon

    Everywhere it?s all around
    Comfort in a crowd
    Strangers faces all around
    Laughin right out loud
    Hey watch where your goin
    Step light on old toes
Cause until you?ve been beside a man
You don?t know who he knows

    Oh blame it on midnight
    Ooh shame on the moon
    Oh blame it on midnight
    Ooh shame on the moon

    *sigh*
