When we got home from the assemblies, we had to do all the housework we had missed (as dust accumulates regardless), milk the cows, feed the pigs, & hunt for our dinner - then cook the dinner.
Back then (waaaaaay back then), we also had to do all the cookin' for the next day's lunch as we didn't have the money for them fancy jw meals. Back then we had to pay for that food. Always heard the cherry pie was good, but never got any.
Btw, one guy I know who was not a jw, said when he was a young'un, if he wanted meat for breakfast, he had to go out & shoot a squirrel, clean it, and then his mom would fry it. Kentucky, go figure.
