I recieved an email today and have been given permission to post the special request as follows:
Hi, everyone. If at all possible, I would like to get your help with something. I have a friend whose mom is dying, and she was not able to get treatments to get her bone marrow to make red blood cells. A nurse went to bat for her against the bureaucracy, to get the mom her treatments without waiting for Medicare to clear, and the daughter is certain that this is saving her mom's life. She wanted to get the nurse a gift, but the nurse turned down any compensation. However, she collects postcards from all over, and she asked my friend for a postcard from her state. My friend asked me for one from California, which I'm sending. I was thinking, if each one of you took a moment and a dollar out to send one too, that would really help my friend's thank-you to the nurse. If you have the chance and the desire during your busy holiday schedules, could each of you please purchase a postcard for the nurse?
The postcard should read: Contributed by a friend of Evelyn Cassel.
This is not an anonymous request. My friend is part of my writer's group. And although I have permission to post the address to mail this to I am not comfortable doing that. Therefore please PM me if you are interested and I will provide the address to mail the postcard to. It seems too that they postcards will be placed on the nurse's info board so please nothing inappropriate for folks on a public board in a hospital.
