I hate these kind of articles.

The Watchtower Society is saying 'Look, a nuclear scientist is saying that the 1914 calculation is sound so don't bother researching it any more.'

My mother thinks that the writing department is full of ex-lawyers, ex-doctors, ex-scientists etc who all gave up their posts to write for the Watchtower. As far as she's concerned she doesn't have to do any research outside the publications because men far more intelligent than her have already done the job for her!

Makes me very angry.

Awake!-Magazine of January 22nd, 2004 contains the article "Why I believe in the Bible?

A Nuclear Scientist reports" as told by Alton Williams.

WHO IS "A" is the key to the authenticity of anything written in this artical. Alton williams is only stating that he is repeating something said by Nuculear Scientst named "A"

This artical means nothing about nothing regarding nothing.

Never mind that Nuclear Science has NOTHING to do with the Biblical interpretation.

This article needs a going over line by line, so, again, if someone can, please post the article!

Well, we are assuming that "A" refers to Alton Williams, and there is a Alton Williams who obtained a doctorate in a topic related to nuclear physics.

We need the article so we will have a basis for discussion!

It's incredible how willing so many JWs (and others) are to absolve themselves of accountability for what they consider to be the most important choices they make in their lives... their "salvation" and their Standing Before God™.

BTW, it has been demonstrated time and time again, that the WTS misquotes authors, scholars, professors and other "experts" in an effort to substantiate their flimsy doctrines and theology; the Creation book is full of examples of these deceptive practices. It might be worth contacting the original author in order to verify whether his statements are being quoted accurately and in context.

I will only assume that Alton Williams is reporting something he either read or heard by another scientist and is not referring to himself as the originator of the comment. The reason being, this is a very common practice in WT writting. They often use this very line when writting about or so-called quoting what someone said. I don't think in this case that Alton Williams and the Nucular scientist are one in the same even if Alton Williams is the same Alton Williams with a doctorate in Nucular physics.

Alton Williams is a JW and he at least used to work as an Associate Profesor at the Alabama A&M University for phsicis. He was/is a part-time professor and a pioneer.

I translated the title of the article from German. Maybe it is slightly different in English.

"As told by" means he was interviewed by Awake!-authors that twisted sorry wrote the article.

It is a five pages article about Williams. The part about 1914 is found on page 20+21.

CityFan- My wife is of the same mold as your mother. Why try to refute any of the claims in the Watchtower, after all they are far more intelligent that anybody else.

The next thing that he should look into is the mathematical correctness of pi in the bible. Maybe he can prove that it really does equal 3 as it is mentioned.
