She is beautiful Sheila! My neighbor offered us one of her Catahoula hounds yesterday, that is because she had too many of them already. Great dogs! I am thinking of taking it, but not sure yet how it will react to my other animals. Hope Thunder enjoys that beautiful dog, and congrats!

CG: We have three Maine Coons, Moxie our Cairn, Dimsdale the Hedgehog and the Iguana Pugsley and Matilda is not aggressive not a real barker she will bark if strangers get to close to the house. So the dog may get along better than you think. I have never had animals that fight Moxie growled and she was put in her kennel now she is curled up behind me on the couch and is being a good girl.

Great looking dog... and she looks so perky and attentive.
I have a west highland terrier and she brings me MUCH joy. In fact, I have two right now....doggie sitting another westie for a friend that is having radiation treatment..
They are so fun to watch and play with...
Thanks again for posting the picture for I truly never heard of a Cahoula Leopard dog.
sincerely

Sheila & Thunder: what a beautiful dog. Now I see what you mean. I haven't a dog like this before, and the name, was unfamiliar.
She looks a darling.
Nice to see another animal, getting a second break, and with you folks, she's gonna be A-OK .
Matilda is beautiful.

Special K Leopard dogs are the only known domesticated native North American breed of dog... developed by our Native American Indians and early settlers, and kept pure to the present day by folks who use them to work livestock, hunt game ranging from squirrels to coons to bears, and as guard dogs. Leopard Curs, Catahoulas, Blackmouth Curs, Mountain Curs, etc., are all branches of the same root stock, but since there is no absolute documentation of the chronological history and precise ancestors involved, much is left to speculation on exactly when and how these several varieties emerged. We probably will never know their exact heritage until and unless DNA samples from today's dogs and their suspected canine relatives are tested. What we do know is part archaeological fact, part excerpted from diaries and letters written by early day dog fanciers, and part legend.
They also have marbled are cracked eyes in the litters. Matilda is one of those her eyes are like hunks of Amber
Ray: Thanks She is great but boy can she run. She got out again and had Ant and Thunder running up and down the street she would get close then streak off again herding them LOL She slipped out the door when Ant got home tonight. I think we are going to have to take her to dog parks and let her run. But she is sooo good she is learning basic obediance really well

Hi Sheila,
It always warms my heart to hear of good animal people - and you and Thunder are certainly two!
When I was a JW I could never accept that animals were inferior; that because they couldn't worship God they were to become dung while humans could live forever. It's been my experience that some of my dogs have been better than some people. People let you down, but a good dog always remains loyal.
I wish you and Thunder much love and happiness with your livestock,
Ian
