Is Bible chronology true?

According to JW interpretation of Bible chronology, the earliest human, Adam, came into existence some 6,048 years ago compared to scientific dating of human fossils believed to be much older. Since Jesus validated the creation of Adam and Eve as historical people and JC’s own lineage is traced all the way back to Adam, Bible chronology is certified as true and there must be something wrong with scientific dating. What proves scientific dating as accurate that humans are much older than what Bible chronology says?

Dating with c-14 carbon, so called radiocarbon dating is in my opinion BS . Simply because no one really knows how much C-14 carbon was in the atmosphere thru all years. It is like saying: I can calculate how long that candle is burning, because I can measure how fast it deteriorate, but to calculate this you need to know how big the candle was before it started to burn. With this radiocarbon method is similar. You simply don't have enough data. They tried to guess how much C-14 was in the atmosphere but that is exactly what it is: guessing not science.

isnt it a bit arse about face ? Where in the bible does it give the date god created Adam ? It does say that so and so was x years old when he begat his son, and so on--so its hardly rocket science to count back from jesus 4000 odd years and come to a point when the biblical god is alleged to have made a mud pie and breathed life in it. But was Adam in fact the first homo sapiens..or more likely a mythical figure dreamed up centuries later ? Were there countless other humans around long before ?

Carbon-14 dating is inaccurate: That's exactly what JWs have been brainwashed with for many years. However, very old fossils are not dated using this method at all. This article precisely describes the various methods used to date the human remains found at Jebel Irhoud, Morocco, to an age of approximately 300,000 years.

Mowgliandbalu every dating method is inaccurate

    Thermoluminescence dating also.

Quote from Wikipedia about this method :

The flux of ionizing radiation—both from cosmic radiation and from natural radioactivity—excites electrons from atoms in the crystal lattice into the conduction band where they can move freely. Most excited electrons will soon recombine with lattice ions, but some will be trapped, storing part of the energy of the radiation in the form of trapped electric charge (Figure 1).

The question is: how on earth can you know how strong the flux of ionizing radiation was at any given time in the past ? It is simply impossible. That's why I belive that hole dating thing is more like divination then science.

Don’t forget to use reason when interpreting the scriptures. The Bible says that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, but we know through science that the earth rotates around the sun. Use reason and you might just see how rigid scriptural interpretation is foolish and unreasonable.

For an overview of geological and fossil dating techniques read this article in Nature.

Whilst Wikipedia can give you an idea of things, quoting it as evidence will get you laughed out of court.

The insistence on accepting bible chronology verbatim is one of my red lines as to why WT theology should be dumped in to a deep deep pit.

There isn't really anything that we can call "Bible" Chronology. What we have to do is find some events the Bible mentions, like the taking of Babylon by the Persians, and then hang everything else off that.

The problem is the Bible stories are mainly Fiction, so So-and-So king reigned in Israel for X many years is just not reliable. As Slidin' Fast says above.

So, wotcha gonna do ? who you gonna call ? if you are trying to fix when exactly an event occurred, or when a character lived, first make sure the event, or character, is not Fictional, then TRY from Biblical information, and any secular Info. you have, to decide on a date.

Good luck, and be aware you cannot be sure of your conclusions.

To give one example, ice cores tell you about climate change over time. This climate change tells us that the ice age ended at least 18,000 years ago, and if the Earth had been covered with water as Genesis said, it would have been mild, and it would have been cold and hot after the flood. So at least the Noah flood is proof that it was 18,000 years ago, and human history is more than tens of thousands of years old because humans lived through the ice age.

Multiple lines of evidence based on an astonishing number of interconnecting fields of science prove beyond ALL doubt that modern humans have lived on earth for over 100,000 years.

To claim that the human race only goes back 6,000 years is every bit as risible as flat earth.

I and others have presented scientific evidence on this many times. Go read a book!
