Basically a WTS tactic to connect survival of the GT with attending meetings.

2014 WT At that crucial time, Jehovah will give us lifesaving instructions, and the “inner rooms” might well be connected with our local congregations.

2016 WT These “inner rooms” may refer to our congregations. That is where we come together as brothers and sisters to worship Jehovah.

God Kingdom Rules book Note the verbs in this verse: “go,” “enter,” “shut,” “hide”—all are in the imperative mood; they are commands. The Jews who heeded those commands would have stayed in their houses, away from the conquering soldiers out in the streets. Hence, their survival depended on obeying Jehovah’s instructions.b

    Isaiah Prophecy book #2

Note the verbs in this verse: “go,” “enter,” “shut,” “hide”—all are in the imperative mood; they are commands. The Jews who heeded those commands would have stayed in their houses, away from the conquering soldiers out in the streets. Hence, their survival depended on obeying Jehovah’s instructions.

WT 2009 In our day, the “interior rooms” of this prophecy could be closely associated with the more than 100,000 congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses around the world. Such congregations play an important role in our lives. They will continue to do so through “the great tribulation.” (Rev. 7:14) God’s people are commanded to go into their “interior rooms” and hide themselves “until the denunciation passes over.” It is vital that we develop and maintain a wholesome attitude toward the congregation and be firmly resolved to stay in close association with it.

Haven't never understood how you gonna run to Kingdom Hall. Or contact people in your congregation, when Jesus said there wouldn't be time to climb down from roof. Neither time to go home to get clothes.

Matthew 24: 15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[a] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.

The Great Tribulation described in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 culminated in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. It was local (Judea, Jerusalem), affecting the Jewish nation culminating in either slaughtered or dispersion among the nations in slavery. Check out Ralph Woodrow's article THE GREAT TRIBULATIONFUTURE OR FULFILLED?

Matthew: “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened” (24:21, 22).

Mark: “For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days” (13:19, 20).

Luke: “For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled . . . for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles” (21:22-24).

Unless we completely ignore the setting, it is evident that the tribulation mentioned here is that which was to come upon the people of Jerusalem and Judea — tribulation which would result in the destruction of the city and temple. As we have seen, Jesus spoke of various things that would come to pass first — wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes, etc. None of these would be the sign of the impending desolation. But when they would see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then they would know that the desolation was nigh, and they should flee into the mountains. Why? “For then shall be GREAT TRIBULATION”, wrote Matthew. Luke’s account says: “For then shall be GREAT DISTRESS in the land [Judea], and wrath upon this people [the Jews]. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles.”

According to the scriptures, the “great tribulation” of which Christ spoke was to bring great affliction, distress, and wrath upon the Jews and destruction upon their city and temple.

The synoptics support that the great tribulation Jesus spoke about would be an unrepeatable local event.

Matthew 24:15-21 The Sign to Flee Jerusalem’s Tribulation & Destruction:

    15. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day: 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Mark 13:14-19 The Sign to Flee Jerusalem’s Tribulation & Destruction:

    14. But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: 15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house: 16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment. 17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter. 19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

Luke 21:20-24 The Sign to Flee Jerusalem’s Tribulation & Destruction:

20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. 22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

when Jesus said there wouldn't be time to climb down from roof. Neither time to go home to get clothes.
The Jews had years to leave Jerusalem after the Romans retreated, only they didn’t know it and neither did they know that the Romans would with certainty return. That’s why Jesus had told his Apostles on the Mount of Olives 33 years earlier, “Let the reader use discernment.” and “ “Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away.” According to Josephus, the clever merchants abandoned Jerusalem like “rats from a sinking ship” after the Romans retreated from the first siege because the wise merchants knew for sure that the Romans would return. All of this and the Jewish zealots pursued Cestius and his army as they retreated from Gibeon and Aijelon imploring Jehovah for the “sun and moon to stand still”. But Jehovah had abandoned them as they triumphantly fought. “Look your house is abandoned to you you.” The Jews had so flagrantly disregarded Jesus with little account believing that Jehovah belonged to them. Deluded with victory and peace and freedom, they fought against the Romans and business as usual with their ordinary lives. “…you did not discern the time of your being inspected.” —Luke 19:44

The J.W org. still flogging a very dead horse, hoping it will limp along at least.

I suppose this nonsense will work on some of the more entrenched, mind controlled JW's still, but that is an indictment upon the Org's message, they rely upon fear to get full control of their members.

This constant fear mongering and also looking forward to the "New System" never really worked on me, as a J.W I thought " I don't care when Armageddon comes, Jehovah is a Righteous Merciful Judge, so I have nothing to fear, and I don't want this world to go yet, too many good people need to hear the truth". Faulty reasoning of course, but it meant that all the hype for decade after decade that the "End is Sooooo close" only cemented my doubt that the G.B knew in any way what they were talking about.

They use the scripture about “inner rooms” a lot. There were pictures in the publications of groups meeting in lofts or cellars long before the bunker video.

In the bunker video they have the armed police as the baddies but after the KH shooting the armed police were praised for their job.
