I called those people, The Holy Ones, and many times they were hiding the most evil things out of sight.

I got scolded by an elder at a friend's funeral because I dressed up in my Navy Blues. Just how inappropriate it was for me to show up in a uniform. He just had to lay into me. I was a friend of the family and have been out of "The Trooth " for ages. It was at a funeral home. I asked this elder " how exactly is my uniform/ my presence here a problem? I asked him if he likes his freedom? He hesitated but stated he he likes his freedom, not like he is in a third world country. It is because of a guy like me who puts on a uniform and picks up a gun that you are free you scumbag.

I am glad you told off that presumptuous elder at the funeral home.

Because reading of anything other than the religion’s literature is frowned upon, many Witnesses are painfully ignorant.. They don’t know enough to even appreciate what you said.

Even if somebody didn’t have higher education they could read one of those periodicals once in a while (like Time magazine). They should do this for ‘fun’. They would then have an idea of how the real world works... You can read these magazines for free at the local public library!

While some people may feel sorry for JWs, I do not.

Its hard to feel sorry for people these days when information is so accessible everywhere

    Ignorance today is a choice.

Ugot2bekiddingme1 - “The Borg is full of easy offended assholes who are so weak and so easy upset if they don't get their way.”

Folks like that often automatically (and even subconsciously) gravitate towards high-control groups specifically because they perceive that those environments readily allow for and enable that.

    VIDIOT:

I totally agree with you that certain ‘easily offended people’ gravitate to high control groups like the Witnesses because they feel they will get their way.

Example: you being told that somebody in the congregation is offended or ‘stumbled’ because of something you said, did, wore, etc… Therefore, because of Christian love, consideration, etc., you will stop doing the ‘offending’ thing.🙄 (Then again, you might stubbornly continue doing whatever and the control freaks will hate you.)😉

There is another thing that I think some people are attracted to in the JWs: mental laziness and not wanting to think. I met people there who liked the idea they didn’t have to be educated or read books.👎 (Meanwhile, I loved reading.).. These JWs also preferred being told what to do as it absolved them of responsibility.. Again, I wasn’t raised as a Jehovah’s Witness so I never related to this mentality.

LHG, "Example: you being told that somebody in the congregation is offended or ‘stumbled’ because of something you said, did, wore, etc… Therefore, because of Christian love, consideration, etc., you will stop doing the ‘offending’ thing.🙄 (Then again, you might stubbornly continue doing whatever and the control freaks will hate you.)😉" So true, always one but usually many, who do this and the elders can't handle that person, afraid of them, and rather pressure the one that person that was criticized to change. Like you, I just kept doing it; I didn't care what the elders thought of me on that point, so no power over me. As preferring to be told what to do, some jws are afraid of the elders that if they displease the elders, it is the same as displeasing their god and then that person won't get everlasting life on earth. I was raised in the jw nightmare, but was not obedient, come from a long line of "disobedient" female jws.
