what a fine witness to jehovah--putting his halls up for sale.

    "closing down sale--everyone must go"

one of those listed by 'spilver above--Ryde isle of Wight...is in the town i live in. i went there once--for a wedding. that family are long out of it now.

before that quick build went up-- ( 80's ?)----the Ryde congregation already had a hall--but it was bursting at the seams.

so now--the town wont have a hall at all. the dubs are to share another hall in Newport IW--10 miles away. 2 congregations share it already. there are also 2 other halls on the island--at Lake ( Shanklin ) and at Totland ( Freshwater )

the Ryde hall mentioned is in a prime location--adjacent to a rebuilt Tesco superstore--and a newly refurbished MacDonalds.

i bet the local dubs must feel something is very wrong with all this.

Who makes decision to sell a KH

Do cong members have any say?

Or is it just announced to them by CO

All British congs are charities, how is charity law complied with and congregation constitution?

Obviously , faithful who have in many cases built and paid for and maintained a KH have absolutely no say, wake up and smell the coffee , mother is stealing from you laughing at you from their cosy apartments with all expenses paid, and the odd Rolex to boot. Sad thing is the members as a group do not exist, WT makes sure they are all individuals with no union or organised body to resist. Menlo Park paved the way and now that one isolated incident becomes a torrent of uncontrollable sell offs. As it said in a film once "Resistance is futile, follow the party line."

The one in the OP - Livingston, was a merge to the newly built assembly hall in the same area. I think three Congs share that building now.

Nice wee scoop up of the cash from the sale of Livingston and Whitburn. Having said that, these aren't desirable areas and they'll not sell for very much money. Also, they've probably spent a great deal on the new assembly hall. One wonders how that cash was raised.

Cheers Darkspilver, its difficult to tell what has sold and what hasn't when the estate agents don't update their websites.

Either way, finding KH's for sale could end up being a good hobby!

Let's give you another one, that's 'coming soon' to an estate agent's window....

Kingdom Hall, White Hart Lane, Wellington, Somerset TA21 8HN
https://goo.gl/maps/vC38QP7AzRv (it's the blue building on left hand side)

The congregation who meet here - Wellington - are being moved 6.5 miles away to join the Priorswood and Vivary congregations at the Kingdom Hall in Taunton - so there will now be three congregations meeting there

Kingdom Hall, 15-16 Upper High Street, Taunton, Somerset TA1 3PZ

Read me about it in the local newspaper's website: http://www.wellington-today.co.uk/article.cfm?id=104860

just a thought--i wonder if the watchtower makes its decision to sell based on the donated income from a hall ? if its below a set percentage--then cash it in.

So, they're selling off property all over the developed world, by the dozens...

...but they're building only one or two here, one or two there.

Even taking into account new construction, if that ain't a sign of abridgment and decline, nothing is.

    Hey blondie!

Have to drive farther, too bad, many bethelites drive 30 to 50 miles to their congregations near Wallkill and Patterson.

Notice what notsurewheretogo 'complains' about today at this post

I've heard that they do not rent other towwn halls from quite far away...folks as far as Perth, Crieff etc have to travel a fair bit for their assemblies because he WT doesn't want to splash cash on nearer venues.

This is in Scotland, where they are used to travelling further - BUT Perth and Crieff are still only around 45 to 50 miles from Livingston, and assemblies are now only twice-a-year, NOT twice-a-week!
