Just to laws I agree with what you said in part. I believe the JWS had it right ( or the Russian who first said it) "Religion IS the Opium of the people" .... But it sounds to me you have a relationship with the Creator ---if your saying thanks!!!!! When someone open a door for you at the mall---I am sure you say "THANKS" even though you dont know them----I think your doing the same thing here when you say Thanks!!! You may not KNOW Jesus- But HE knows you & excepts your thanks- that your grateful for his provisions. etc O.K> I will step of the "soap Box "

Father of night, Father of day,
Father, who taketh the darkness away,
Father, who teacheth the bird to fly,
Builder of rainbows up in the sky,
    Father of loneliness and pain,
Father of love and Father of rain.

Father of day, Father of night,
Father of black, Father of white,
Father, who build the mountain so high,
Who shapeth the cloud up in the sky,
Father of time, Father of dreams,
Father, who turneth the rivers and streams.

Father of grain, Father of wheat,
Father of cold and Father of heat,
Father of air and Father of trees,
Who dwells in our hearts and our memories,
Father of minutes, Father of days,
Father of whom we most solemnly praise.

I think, if I had your background, I'd feel quite comfortable saying, "God, (whoever you know yourself to be) if you are behind all of this good stuff--Thank you!!"

Such a message would surely reach him.

How does anyone know what Jesus intended? If you add up all the red letters in the KJ version, you'll find about an hours worth of discourse. hardly an all encompassing encapsulation of his 33 years on earth. I, like others, would love to ask Him a few pointed questions, like, "Did Paul accurately reflect your teachings?", but alas, we will never be able to get clarity from the scant biblical references. Have to look for other sources.

    Hi Franklyn J.

I was reading your topic post and thinking what it would sound like if I wrote it about my son..

Yesterday, (which is true) I watched my 8 year old son... UNhealthy, beautiful, full of promise.. play soccer with his classmates as I do every Monday and Friday afternoons (which I do). He too is happy and a secure child despite his many hosptial stays in his young life. Of course, as a proud mother I was beaming too as I watched him. His smile and happiness brimming over. I thought to myself, "Thank you, my young son". Thank you for all the joy and love you bring into my life. Thank you for being here and thank you for being you.

So I guess I'm not into thanking God. I'm in to thanking my son, for the joy he brings me. That in itself can erase all the hospital stays, and needles and intervenous, the doctors. It has a way of erasing all those negative feeling things... just to see him smile and take part in what I call a normal childs life.

Right now as three white tail deer meader through the pastureland behind my house. Who do I thank? Thank you deer for helping me appreciate your beauty and the nature that surrounds you.

A calm in the midst of a storm is a beautiful thing. I thank "the calm" for a break from "the storm".

    sincerely thankful

    Special K
