Oh yeah, another "peaceful deal" that I'm sure that we could have absolutely trusted the Butcher of Baghdad (whose promises of safety to his sons-in-law are now a matter of historical record) to fulfill.

The cost of freedom is death, blood, mutilation and pain. Widows, orphans, men without legs, and a great deal of thrashing about. War is not pretty, or glorious, or satisfying. It is hell, without any end or solution. But through peaceful initiatives, a great deal of good things are being done.

War accomplished more than sanctions did, and killed fewer children.

There is a fairly restricted area where most of this rebellion is taking place. The so-called Sunni triangle. Saddam is there, somewhere. He can't leave, because he'll get caught and die. He can't stay, because eventually he will get caught and die.

The Iraqis, in the early 1990's, tried to rise up and "settle things themselves" and wound up getting massacred and buried in mass graves.

Hey, stephen - Dante reserved the hottest place in hell for those who, when presented with a moral choice, chose neutrality. Burn, baby, burn...

I remain convinced that not only will we supporters be vindicated because of our stand, we will be the ones to whom the peaceniks will turn for defense when and if the enemy ever REALLY gets a foothold on our soil.

Who is feeding who lies? ABC and Yahoo are now reporting that the Iraqis were prepared to negotiate a peaceful resolution days before the war but was turned down.

This is news? Prior to the actual invasion, several attempts were made by Saddam to stay the enevitable. Bush stated all along that the time for negotiation was through and it was time for him to leave. It was all over the news prior to the war, so why is this any news now?

Saddam thought it was another bluff, as he had gotten used to hearing for so long. He found out different.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.
