Found this linked from one of the JW sites. Is'nt it interesting how things like reading the actual Bible and becoming a more loving husband are all the way at the bottom. I guess they arent as important as cleaning the hall or sending them money and not nearly as important as going to meetings and reading their books so the indoctrinization can begin. Just shakin my head at number 40. Sad really.

Matt.23:24, "Blind guides, who strain out the gnat but gulp down the camel!"

Matt. 22:36-40, "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?" First, is the love of your Creator, followed by your fellow man and yourself, in balance of course.

Vs. 40, "On these two commandments the whole law hangs..." Yet, we have 43 goals to pursue and then some?

Matt.15:3,8,9 "Why is it YOU also overstep the commandment of God because of your tradition?

Vs,7,8. "You hyprocrites, Isaiah aply prohesied about YOU when he said, This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me."

Dimples you've obviously got your priorities all mixed up ..Why would reading the bible be more important than being regular at the meetings? After all you cant understand what you are reading anyway unless you hear it at the meetings.

No wonder you aren't a witness anymore!

    agreed franklin J.

I used to make little lists like this for myself after assemblies, conventions, etc.

Two weeks later I was lying in bed at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning feeling guilty as hell.

Ew, how sick SICK SICK that list is.

    Oh my gawd!

I feel the sudden urge to go back to bed and get some sleep for all those poor dubs out in service on this grey, miserable day in PA...

Oddly enough, one of the things I never learned to do as a JW was set goals in life.

I took a class ten years after leaving the WTS, and they asked us to set four personal and professional goals for ourselves, and I struggled! The old mindset of just getting by and not looking towards the future was still with me in many ways! I also had beliefs from childhood that good things would only happen for me by accident, since most everything I wanted as a kid never came to pass... but that's another story.

Now I very rarely don't have a list of goals in mind and written on the board or in a notebook, or posted on the bathroom mirror.

Current goals (all these are by February 4th, 90 days from when I set them):

    • Get down to 200 pounds.
    • Sell one article to a magazine I haven't sold to before
    • Finish two book proposals
    • Find the house my fiancee and I want to buy, execute a purchase agreement, and have attractive financing approved
    • Submit a draft of my screenplay
    • Do 25 sessions/classes of yoga (which I've done before), and do 10 meditation classes (which I haven't done at all before)

So when you see me on this fricking board, ask me if I shouldn't be working ! :)
