    You'll soon see why.

***** Power of Prayer Enjoy this and know you are in Good Hands..... This is quite a story... goose bump type. Diane, a young university student, was home for the summer. She had gone to visit some friends one evening and time passed quickly as each shared their various experiences of the past year. She ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away. As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked "God" to keep her safe from harm and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he were waiting for her. She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for "God's" protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped around her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safely. The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there. Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep. Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed. The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her. She asked if they would ask the man one question. Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall men walking on either side of her." Moral of the story... Don't underestimate the power of Prayer! Gives ya goosebumps doesn't it! ***** BAHAHAHA! Oh yes, that DEFINITELY was a "real" JW experience we all heard. *dripping sarcasm* Of course, if it were true, why the woman didn't just use common sense and not go down a dark alley by herself, or even turn around and take the long way once she saw the man...that's a whole different story.

There have been many faithful JW women and children who have suffered from rape and child abuse. I have to wonder why these were not protected by jehovah. Or is he selective about that sort of thing, or was his protection just a random act? If such protection isn't consistent, then it's worthless, because it can't be counted upon.

I sometimes wonder if the society has a team of retired district overseers crackpots that do nothing else with their time but sit around and invent fake 'experiences'.

This sounds like one of those JW urban legends wherein the sis in the d-t-d work discovered via the newspaper the next day that a house she had "visited" was the same place that a cosmetic saleslady had been raped and/or murdered in.....when the perp was questioned as to why he didn't attack the JW woman, he allegedly replied, "because there were two very tall men standing just behind her...." (burp)

    Sounds like Nephilim to me.

I am not a JW, but am married to one. I am not surprised at hearing about these "Urban Legends" that you all say were repeated ad nauseum while you were in, and are still repeated. But...let me tell you my story:

As a 6 yr old growing up with a very violent alcoholic mother, I always feared the dark-bedtime was the time she was up and would often come into my room. One night, I was terrified and began to earnestly pray (as I often did). Beside me appeared a HUGE person in white, he or she sparkled from head to foot, and he was as tall as the ceiling! The person simply said to me: "Do not be afraid, I am here". I remember rolling over and sleeping REALLY sleeping for the first time in weeks!

I did not remember this event until I formally accepted Christ as a 22 yr old, and started to learn about angels. Please do not negate the possibility of Guardians...they are real. I know I risk being laughed at royally, but this a TRUE story, and I am very grateful to my guardian, and to God who sent him/her!

All right. I won't laugh at it. I have my own experiences with something protecting me.

But to try to exploit it, and to make people feel like God has abandoned them because they didn't pray hard enough is a wicked, wicked thing. To make it seem like the WT's brand o' religion extends some kind of force field around its true adherents is ridiculous.

I think that God protects us more than we know... If he arranged matters so that you NEVER realized just how close you'd teetered to the edge of oblivion today, how would you know?

Okay...I heard the same story when I was growing up as a JW but it had a slight twist...

The woman was alone in field service and some weirdo demon possessed man answers the door and she says her thing and goes. And then some other person NOT a JW goes to the door never to be seen alive again.

When asked about why he didn't attack the JW he said there were two men with her. Hmmmmmmmm....I totally believe in the power of miracles but this is just like one of their alleged stories!

Once again these stories rear their ugly heads. Good grief. There is no reason why a loving god would allow some one... anyone to get raped or murdered. If you get an inkling of danger that's intuition.

One reason people like these stories is because they put themselves into the place of the "protected" not the victim. If you put yourself in the victim's shoes you'd no doubt wonder at your fickle god. It is dangerous to expect god to help when you put yourself into a dangerous situation.

In reality I'd say a young woman today would carry mace on her key chain, have learned to squeeze the rapists balls, poke his eyes out, or grab his adams apple in addition to have the sense NOT to walk down dark alleys.
