Speaking with Demons

from my experience--i think the jw generation born in the 1920's and 30's were obsessed with stories of demons. Even my late father was hooked into it--and would repeat any demonic bullshit story told to him by some crackpot. yet he was otherwise a very sane and intelligent man.

i was terrified by the thought of demons as a child--only getting over it as my teen years progressed. then--in my late 20's i overheard my crazy mother in law telling it all over again to my young kids. i hit the roof and really told her what i thought of it all.

but i think the current young generations know its all just nonsense. in the civilised world anyway.

Actually, this topic has been often over the years:

    https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/search/?q=greber

It might be good to read through the comments and research by others.

Here are some comments in the WOL (WT Online Library) which goes back to 1950:

    https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/s/r1/lp-e?q=greber&p=sen&r=newest

    From www.jwfacts.com

BTW the WTS was translating the NWT long before the first volume came out (may be 5 volumes before the whole thing was put together in 1960.

Here is another spin on it showing another case of hypocrisy of the WTS.

Ahh - I knew Blondie would have the knowledge/info.

    Thanks.

I recall his wife was the spiritist.

His wife was allegedly a medium. --Not quite the same thing, but they go together like peas and carrots. (A spiritist is to a medium what a music lover is to a musician )

Translation of the NWT formally began in 1947; several years after Greber's death. (According to the JW's which are admittedly not a reliable source, but I have no reason to doubt them on this.)

I remember an elder in a Watchtower Study back in the 70s denouncing the TV show Bewitched as demonic and that he wouldn't allow anyone in his household to watch it.

Hilarious. Most of us had grown up watching it because it was a clean funny comedy.

But let an elder with a bee in his bonnet start denouncing TV programmes and where might it end? Tying guilty publishers to the stake and burning them outside in the KH car park. Hahaha.

Thanks for the correction/info re/Greber's wife -- interesting as I don't know the difference. I need some time to read all Blondie's links.
