Just got my power on today.

Thanks to all for your concern - it's really touching. It was rough going for a couple days with the food situation, but a friend rescued me yesterday and took me to his condo with lights, cable, and REAL FOOD!

things should be back to normal soon, I hope. The city is a real mess, power lines hanging everywhere, trees blocking the streets, I've never seen anything like it.

Funny note: none of my 'family' called to check on me-that says it all.

I think we should all get together for tea/coffee soon - and anyone with airmiles that wants to fly in is welcome,

I was talking to the wife of a Nova Scotia Power worker while sitting at the hockey rink yesterday (kids hockey practice)..

she got a call from her husband working in Halifax and he said he won't be home for another good week.

Also, now all Power trucks and men need military escorts...

People are sooooo weird .. it really annoys me. the Power guys are trying to do their job and they get all these mad homeowners yelling and screaming at them and hampering their work.

All schools and Universities are still closed and MIGHT be open by Monday.

another 50,000 people got power yesterday or last night...(YEAH.. TALESIN !!!)

Still upwards of 95,000 people out of power...This is the 4th day.

It's a good thing these people who are screaming at the NSP workers didn't go through Hurricane Hugo like I did when I lived in the Virgin Islands. It was a category 5 hurricane, and knocked down literally every power line on the island I was living on (St. Thomas). Parts of the island didn't get their electricity restored for three months! We were under a sunset to sunrise curfew down there. They flew power crews on to the island from Georgia and Alabama to help the local power company restore electricity as fast as possible, but they needed everyone out of their way, so they had to institute the curfew so they could work in peace at night. Mean time, we survivors of Hugo were stuck inside our homes with no power, no electricity, and no telephone during the night hours for months, except for the wealthy few who could afford a generator (which were being sold at ridiculously inflated prices). After three months of spending each night inside a house with only a kerosene lantern for light, I left the island and flew to the states. Otherwise, I'd probably still be living there today.

I hope the irate people will lay off the NSP workers and let them do their job. From the reports I've been getting from my friends up there, it could have been much worse!
