Obviously, you are a caring person and feel somewhat like you'd like to send a card.
At least if you do, then you leave the choice up to them as to whether they want to open it or not.
they still belong in J.W.'s.. well then they have no choices. Their choices all get taken away when they got baptized .
You have a choice to either send or not send.. You are free.
You are even free to make a donation to a charity in respect to the passed on person. Usually in a death annoucement in the paper a some charities are specified. I just personally wouldn't give a donation to the kingdom hall or WTBTS.
For me.. I don't think I will ever set foot in a kingdom hall. Been there, done that, felt all that guilt and shunning being done to me. That didn't feel right.
