Wow, I come back years on and the same people are making the same bizzare stands and claims. In that time you could have got a degree in a scientific field and defended your view empirically and changed the world.......if the rest of science is wrong and YOU are right.....

......but the ancient Hebrews didn't know of Everest existence, they were just trying to create power and relevance specifically toward their god YHWH.

Interesting as it is from sociological viewpoint, the high priests also created power toward themselves by proclaiming they received spiritual guidance and channeling from their expressively created gods , similar to how the leaders of most religions today. ie. JWS

remember in the "jesus" story, he endorses the Noah account

Remember Jesus also spoke in parables. Couldn't the flood be a parable like the Good Samaritan? Jesus also said the mustard seed is the smallest in the world which it is not.

e 1863: "Remember Jesus also spoke in parables. Couldn't the flood be a parable like the Good Samaritan?--

Those that wrote the "jesus" story, used the "noah" myth to add credence to their efforts, appealing to the perceived authenticity of the described events. whether they knew of the fictional character of the "flood"or not, the effect is that the whole story, inundation and "jesus' " comments about it, could not possibly have happened as described.

    Or he didn't exist .....

or he didn't say those things.....

or he was just a man......

or he was an embellishment of a rumor about a minor character, just like the deluge account, as written, was a embellishment about a second hand account in the wet north of palestine.

What does that say? That he was just a local middle eastern man that thought he was special. He also spoke of Adam and Eve as being real. So again, he didn't have any special knowledge, he just believed in the same things that people believed at that time.

He could have taught them about preventing infection, or fighting disease, or any other truly remarkable thing. But he didn't, because he simply didn't know. He was just a local rebel, an activist, and a clearly delusional individual that was able to convince thousands of weak-minded individuals that he was the son of god. There is nothing remarkable about this. 2000 years ago people were incredibly ignorant and primed to believe in the most idiotic things as they did.

If Jesus lived today, with the power of analysis and critical thinking we have now, he would be quickly dismissed as a fraud and either committed to a mental institution, or if left free, would likely spend his days in Times Square yelling at passer-bys about repenting.

If he appeared in a watchtower congregation he would be disfellowshipped within 3 1/2 years for apostasy, brazen conduct.and deluded about the deluge.

Why does this forum often cut off big chunks of my posts? The theory I heard was Pangaea was suddenly and violently torn apart by the bursting of the fountains of the deep.
