Unbelievable experiences at assemblies or conventions

  What experience at an assembly or convention caused you to raise your eyebrows in disbelief?

  One that comes to mind is a 5 year old conducting several bible studies. Wasn't it hard enough for an adult to get a bible study? This must have been a little genius, don't you have to be able to read to conduct studies? Not only the book you are studying but also bible scriptures. I don't know about you but I thought that was a little hard to believe. While everyone was clapping and so proud of this child, me and my Mom were looking at each other thinking... Yeah Right!!

  My cousin used to sell drugs (as in, crack) to the housing projects that surrounded the coliseum.

  He'd disappear during the sessions to do this...I always used to see him coming back from over there with all this cash...his mom was deeply "in the troof" but he wasn't.

  Being belly pushed from a working candy vending machine with an out of order sign Scotch tapped to it with my 3 year old son by two attendants was unbelievable to me. The assembly was at Bismarck North Dakota, 1975. The attendants told me Duane Matz was responsible for the sign. The sign was a lie, the message at the assembly was a lie, hell, the whole religion was a lie. GaryB

  I guess buying candy is a no-no as well. At assemblies I was at, we were not to patronize the street vendors. They told us the vendors had not had proper licensing from the city.....I wonder if that was a lie too.

  I was going to say something, but I have just spotted an ugly ginger haired kid as I glanced out of my window.

  ..... oh yeah, this is it. I remember I used to work cleaning with this guy, who was a ministerial servant. He was the most two faced, hypocritical backstabbing idiot you would ever meet. You sold me short so many times on wages. About 2 years after finishing working for him, I heard that he was working for some Computer place, selling computers. This place was being investigated by customes and the Tax office for fraud. All the employers were under risk, and people knew that he was at it. To cut a long story short, just before he got investigated he packed up and left. Besides, he didn't get paid for 6 months, so he had to leave anyway.

  The following month, at an assembly, he was speaking on the platform about how he decided to leave his workplace in 'order to serve Jehovah more' and 'do more in the service'. Lies ! He left because he wasn't getting paid and was under extreme pressure via the tax office ! Yet there he was, goody 2 shoes, telling everybody including the elders that were hot on his back about how he left because of God..... sickening !

  And to step so low as to print a lie on a sign so as not to use a vending machine, gimme a break.

  A lie is not a lie when spoken for 'theocratic warfare'.

  I got one fer ya.. My husband was an attendant at an assembly in Huntsville. Our four year old son had to pee. I couldn't find my husband to take him to the bathroom so we went into the women's. The female "attendant" over the restroon said he was too old to come into the women's bathroom and would not let him go.!!!!! I should point out that he was tall for his age but I tried to explain the situation and that he was just 4!!! And not to mention, it being the first day of the convention, we had all had to sit and listen to the Do's and Don'ts for the next 2 days just a few minutes before the break for lunch. INCLUDING parents escort your children to the bathrooms!!!!!!!! I was still "IN" at the time but not stupid enough to think that there was no way that a child molester "couldn't possibly make it past security". I was not ABOUT to let him go into the men's room by himself!!! I was So mad and my son was about to wet himself. I went in search of his father. I found mine instead who (an elder and super over the attendants) offered to take him. I was LIVID. She totally embarrassed me infront of lots of dub women who had like good little girls waited til the break to use the facilities. I got the same response from everyone, " She was just doing what she was told" . But I ask you, What the heck would a 4-year old care about in the ladies room???? He just had to go!! This was just "another brick in the wall". Not the first ,and certainly ,not the last.

  I remember a brother from our congregation going up on stage and giving his experience.

  He gave his experience of how he was the lead singer for the Guess Who after Burton Cummings had left. Throughout the whole place, you could hear "Hmmmm!" and "Wow" being whispered from people's mouths.

  I knew he was a member of the Guess Who, but I didn't know he replaced Burton Cummings. The thing I find funny is that the Guess Who was NOTHING after Burton Cummings left.
