    dropoffyourkeylee - "I thought their belief was to obey Caesar's law unless it conflicts with God's law. So why don't they just turn over the records? I haven't read up on it much, but it makes no sense to me."

    Turning over records, dutifully reporting, all that stuff; criminal investigations, trials, and convictions can't help but follow...

    ...and a far larger quantity of damning information then becomes a matter of public record, and therefore way harder to dismiss as "apostate lies" (particularly if said information is actually printed on internal Watchtower documents)...

    ...ultimately revealing to the rank-and-file the true scope of the problem: that it's pervasive, institutionalized, and endemic (not to mention that the Org's so-called "Biblical" means of dealing with it are not only not working, but are, arguably, making it worse)...

    ...which can't help but call the Org's claim to fame as "God's Earthly Organization" into question like nothing else, because holy shitballs, how could it not???

    The WT leadership will do damn near anything to keep the membership from cluing in to that.

    So the bottom line is the WTB&TS are not abiding by the scripture that plainly states in Mr.12:17 {,"Jesus then said pay back Caesars things to Caesar but Gods things to God." }

    And they are snubbing their nose at a plainly stated Bible rule / directive Rom.13:1.2 , "Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities ,for there is no authority except by God,the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God .2. Therefore he who opposers the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God :those who have taken a stand against it will receive judgement to themselves "

    Heb.10:31 ",It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God "

    smiddy3,

    Up until 1929, the WTS did teach that the secular governments were the superior authorities. Then they changed it to "Jehovah and Jesus." Then in 1962, the went back to secular governments, adding that it is only "relative" subjection. If read the WT pubs before 1929, you will find that nothing changed as to what Bible Students should do or not do. The WTS disobeyed many edicts from the governments before 1929.

    The WTS gives a dance around in 1962, even though the WTS was teaching something that was not true according to the scriptures before that saying, it did serve to be a protection for Bible Students (changed to jws in 1931 for members that had stayed with Rutherford's version of the WTS), so they did not do the things required by the secular governments. Many WT members ended up in prison, concentration camps, tarred and feathered (kills you BTW or seriously scars you), etc. But none of the leaders in NY suffered any of that.

    Ten bucks says that, since that the WT leadership are full-on True Believers, they probably figure it's justified, since the End is "right around the corner", their status as His Exclusive Earthly Organization is set in stone, and they'll get a pass.
