That doesn't seem too much different than christian nations who are making sure that the needles used to perform lethal injection on criminals are disinfected!

Id say it has a lot to do with the prophecy of the end days when people will be handed over to be killed and believe they are doing it for God. In the old testament the Levites and priests had to cleanse themselves before entering the temple and the high priest cleanse and even offer up sacrifices for the priests himself then the people before the main sacrifices took place.
to me it mirrors sacrificial service and you can se how these people believe they are doing this for God they cleanse themselves first so their sacrifice is acceptable id say
