Do JWs now allow some gambling?

There were just too many JW's sneaking off to Vegas or to the Riverboats to play some slots. You can't DF everyone and esp not the folks that have a few extra bucks to piss away. (Same with porn. You'd lose ALL the Elders and MS if they still had the absolute ban and removed those who "sinned" on the internet.)

Since I was denied an education, At 18 I played Lottery all the time. Could care less of what the elders thought.

but don't you dare smoke a cigarette

That's been lightened to, they said not every instance of smoking is judicial, just private council might suffice.

in a legal sense, here in the US, petty theft varies by State, but could be up to $750.

Seem like enough-- per person, per day, for a weekend in Vegas.

Neat blue dog- When I got talked to by the elders about my pot smoking. I told them I didn't inhale. And God made pot for us to enjoy.

Well Well..... I missed that revision when I downloaded the Shepherding book. They have relaxed the rules.

Back in the nineties, the last Judicial Committee I sat on dealt with a bro. Whom I was told had been found gambling with lottery scratch cards. During the process I learned that all he had done was to give some loose change to a local charity and received a “lucky number scratch card” ,

Even then, I knew that in a more enlightened congregation an elder would simply have had a word in his ear and that would be the end of it. However I had to go along as we read him scriptures about “the god of good luck” and how serious the sin was. He was duly Judicially Reproved..

    Times change, don’t they?
