The supreme court in the breakaway South Ossetia has ruled that Jehovah’s Witnesses is an extremist organization and banned its activities.

When the ruling comes into force in a few days, Jehovah’s Witnesses members will face up to 10 years in jail for any religious activities such as assembly and distributing literature.

Here is a map that shows North Ossetia's location and situates South Ossetia in close proximity to Chechnya and other conflict zones. It is not at all surprising that the Jehovah's Witnesses have had their activities curtailed in this area.

Never nice for our brothers and sisters to go through hardships from any ban. But great that certain states, countries are seeing it for what it is.

If this catches on in places that the WTS deems "important" (certain western nations") they might actually decide to discover some New Light about their draconian practices (ie shunning).

Such places wouldn't necessarily have to "ban" them. Just threatening to revoke their tax exempt status should work.

Yeah, just like I always figure that "new light" on blood is due within weeks of a GB member or one of his family needing a currently-banned blood procedure.

South Ossetia has a population of 53,000. Surely there can’t be many JWs there.

If they don't have any JWs there then that's good. At least they wont be persecuted. But the fact that they are banned regardless of population is a great thing.

I may be out, but I can still put myself in their shoes and understand how hard it must be for them.

"In South Ossetia, there are more than 1,000 Jehovah's Witnesses *, said earlier the commissioner for religious affairs under the President of the Republic, Sonya Khubaeva. Commenting on the suit filed by the Prosecutor General's Office, Khubaeva stated that Jehovah's Witnesses * in South Ossetia had never had an official status, although they tried to register as a religious organization."

Why wouldn't they want to be persecuted? They pray everyday for the kingdom of Gawd to come. This of course can't happen until the BIG A happens, and this can't happen until the great tribulation happens. So God's plan is for the world to persecute Jdrones, since this is part of the great tribulation.

So for all intents and purposes, why wouldn't they be happy that GAWD is moving along with his plan for the world to persecute Jdrones? Every time a government decides to ban the Org, Jdrones throughout the world, should go dancing on the streets in celebration, because this means it gets them close to an eternal life of petting tigers and eating endless fruit.

Instead, what we see is Jdrones trying to thwart Gawd's plan by trying to avoid persecution, and writing letters to prevent this from happening. This in fact, is the only thing that makes no sense if they truly believe their teachings.
