Does anyone know of an online site for JWs who have been sexually abused in the WT ? Where someone who is in a relationship with someone who has been abused can talk to others who have had the same experience and maybe their family members ( if they are supportive obviously ) . A friend of mine is in that situation and would like some insight into how to help their partner .

    Thanks in anticipation , Jan

Hi there, I'm really sorry to hear of your friend and partners suffering. The best place I can recommend that may be able to help is Barbara Anderson's silentlambs.org . There is bound to be a users forum and someone there will I'm sure be able to point them in the right direction for region/country etc. The site was set up by Barbara, an ex Bethelite ,who left when she uncovered the shocking number of child abuse victims within the org. and her web site is very much geared to that issue.

Barbara Anderson's website is Watchtower Documents.

It depends what country you are in, I suggest you might start with your local doctor for advice. If you seek a Counsellor ask if they have had experience dealing with cults. Unless they have they will be too easily ambushed by what the society says and what it says, it says.

Hi Zeb , yes you are right about many Counsellors not understanding cults . That is why l thought that a site formed and run by JWs ( and maybe their loved ones ) in that situation would be the most helpful . People who know the trauma of abuse complicated by a cult mindset . The most effective therapy can come from talking to others who have been through the same experience . Also my friend would get the best advice on how to help her partner .

I don't know if maybe this would help. http://aawa.co

I also know some therapists can provide therapy over a webcam, especially since ex cult therapists can literally be an ocean away sometimes.

Oh wait, still members of JW's? Umm, maybe here? This site has more neutrality with all views, but I'm not sure if it'll provide information like that. http://www.angelfire.com/al4/progressivejws.html/index.html

Also, before I forget, I saw a therapist here in California that is a Jehovah Witness. Maybe get in contact with the circuit overseer and see if there are any therapists that treat Witnesses in your area.
