Ah but Mr. Finkelstein..... don't forget that there is more at stake than going along with governmental laws and regulations!

    1. By joining the scheme, they would have to admit they have a problem. Not parents - THEM.
    2. By admitting they have a problem, they would have to say SORRY!
    3. By saying sorry, and acknowledging their criminal action in covering up child sexual abuse, they would have to part with MONEY!
    4. And let's not forget, that apart from the National Redress Scheme, they are yet to implement the recommendations from the ARC. What were they I hear you ask???
    • Get rid of the 2-wtiness rule where it pertains to accusations of child sexual abuse (16.27)
    • Have women involved in the process to support, if not decision-making, at least support (16.28)
    • Do not SHUN child sexual abuse survivors who chose to leave WT. Shun everyone else if you must, but not CSA survivors (16.29)

And we all know that there is buckleys of that happening.....

    Quite agree there Unstuck

The ARC investigation revealed there is problem with regarding child sexaul abuse within the JWS religion, not totally wide spread but when there was a incident the WTS intentionally tried to wash the matter over irresponsibly and untended.

The WTS/JWorg as recently tried to use their own propaganda to assert there is no problem of this kind within their organization and attempted toward putting a white sheet over the matter.

Times have changed and secular law authorities and governments are tracking down religoius institutions and non religious institutions as well, creating strong penalties to those who intentionally try to cover up these harmful and damaging circumstances toward children.

So wish this would get some headlines in the USA.

But of course, the riots and new COVID cases take up all that space.

I can just hear their offer of settlement and redress if allowed to handle things individually on their own:

"Sister, it's too bad your parents didn't protect you from that elder and his teenage boys all those years. Tsk, tsk. Well, at least you didn't get pregnant and bring reproach on Jehovah's name. As a full settlement for your years of emotional pain and the psychiatric therapy you required, the Faithful Slave has graciously decided you may be forgiven if you choose to suspend your regular monthly contribution for a month or two. What a loving provision from Jehovah! Would that make things all better?"

    Excellent point crofty

If the org did apologize to the victims and survivors in Australia , would that also mean they would have to review the disfellowshiping of the victims, and those who reported the abuse to the authorities and anyone who was stumbled by the lack of the elders involving the authorities in these horrendous crimes.

Then the org would then have to include the whole association of brothers in the apologies regarding the treatment and

the disfellowshiping and shunning of the victims and others affected by the lack of reporting these crimes to me authorities .

In view of all the bad P.R they're getting, I'm sure there are many many JW's in Australia who are very glad that the preaching work has been put on hold for Covid 19. Can you imagine what sitting ducks they'd be if they were to stand on a sidewalk with a cart or go from door right now?

Ironically this refusal by the WTS in Australia has brought reproach onto the organization in the public's eye.

They're at the point where they don't give a rat's ass about bad PR.

It's not about protecting the Organization's reputation, and hasn't been for a long time, now.

It's about maintaining and reinforcing the fiction of "God's Earthly Organization"...

...because without it, the WTS is nothing.

Agreed Vidiot, the GB are now into salvage work which means maintaining the illusion of divine blessing for those still emotionally dependant on the cult.
