Blackwolf they are now using magnets for depression magnets for depression.

also electrical brain stimulation for depression electro for depression. this isn't convulsive but very low voltage and safe. please check the links in blue.

Also you might check into lithium or prescriptions. Some of this is not just talking about it you might need serious help. Try to avoid a garbage diet. If you go to a psychiatrist just remember there are more things to try than just what he/she is recommending and don't be afraid to change psychiatrists if one is not working for you as you might find a much better one. If possible get rest and some exercise.

Black Wolf, you might want to go to a mental health clinic and ask them if there's anything they can do for you in spite of your being 16 years old and without involving your parents. You might have rights you don't know about.

I been there, its a real bitch. The therpy i used was walking, hiking. If you have areas of natural beauty, outdoors where you can do a few miles hike that will stress your body it will also release the endorphins in your mind that handles stress and depression. There are articles that show exercise is of greater value than medication or counseling. They made a movie recently of a woman who hiked the Pacific Crest Trail for mental health. yes it takes effort but that is something that comes with growing up into adulthood. If your homeschooling doesn't include a PE class that might be something to think about doing.

For 11 years now the Kingdom Hall I go to on Sunday is a National Park I try to do 4-10 miles [past year I have had poor attendance] I see bears, deer, rattle snakes, I saw a young bear chase a fisher.

You have a tough situtation as you are under parental control so you have a bit of time until you control life but something like exercise is one controling his own life even though under parental oversight. Just a thought that much has been written about how folks have been able to handle some very horific life events by exercise.

Blackwolf If you have anorexia you need to be under a specialist clinician. It is an extremely dangerous condition, and a long slog to get better.

Ring or contact an Anorexia helpline, this is your no 1 priority. Anorexia is all about attempting to control an environment you feel completely lost/uncontrollable in.

I would never give advice like this to an individual.

Some people who think they need professional help (such as counseling) and don't get it because their parents interfere or think they don't need it, go outside of the home and seek it anyway.

They might go to the school they would attend and approach the school counselor and explain that they are in this situation. The school counselor would be obligated to report such a problem to whatever social services are available in the area. Others would go straight to social services and skip the school counselor. If they didn't know how to find social services, they might start at a police station or a church.

The reason I would not directly give advice to do such a thing is because it puts things in motion for people to investigate their parents and the homeschool situation and all.

While I would not give YOU such advice, were it me- I would seek help outside the home. I have a history of a need for professional counseling and I wouldn't want to wait until it was too late. I hope you understand what I am saying.

I am worried about you Blackwolf. You are 16. Homeschooled. Have no one to talk to. Depressed and anorexic.

You really need some support. You are in a cycle with your parents that they think the solution is prayer.....but one real solution is to stop going to Jehovah’sWitness meetings. You also need real support over your eating disorder. You could seriously damage your body.

I would love to help. But your options are limited. How can we really help Blackwolf?

Have you tried anti-anxiety medications? They can really help. Your anxiety isn't real. It is caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain. So anti-anxiety medications can balance that chemical imbalance out. Talk therapy alone won't do it.

Exercise can help with anxiety. Also, you must manage any triggers of your anxiety, i.e., listening to sad songs or reading things that make you sad or anxious; certain people that make you anxious; certain situations that make you anxious. You have to find out what things make you anxious and manage them. Also, one of the most important things you can do is find hobbies or activities that you love and enjoy and throw yourself into them like gardening, sports, literature, skiing, etc. When you are active in those activities you mind doesn't have time to focus on anxiety and it will give your mind a breather, which will then help calm you down.

Along the lines of Anti Anxiety meds, some of the Pharm types can be tough.

A lot of people (Including my self) have found a lot of Anxiety relief from an Herb called "mitragyna speciosa" - It can be a real life saver for many different mental issues.

For mental health issues of course there is a strong psychological component. However there usually is a very strong physiological component. Diet is vital for good mental health.

Many people find great relief by significantly increasing their cholesterol intake. The brain NEEDS cholesterol.

Carbs cause mood and hormone shifts in your body. If you are prone to mental heath issues this can greatly increase it. Fats give you lasting energy. For me I deal with migraine headaches. If I can keep myself in a ketonic state... I feel MUCH MUCH better. The way to do this first significantly reduce your food intake. It sounds like you might already be doing this through no fault of your own. The next important thing is to greatly increase your fat intake.(PLEASE if you already are not eating much don't decrease it.. just increase the fats you eat)

Here is just the first article that I could find that backs up what I am saying

    http://www.drbriffa.com/2010/07/22/low-cholesterol-levels-associated-with-depression-and-other-mental-health-issues/

Another extremely important nutritional component is trace minerals. They are vital for nerve function. Our diets are probably deficient in them. I take pure unadulterated sea salt for its trace minerals. If this doesn't sound like a good idea look for a good supplement that includes the 90+ minerals important to our bodies.
