Hecce, don't forget to keep posting stuff about JW and Cuba. Also, I sincerely enjoy our dialogue. It is my opinion that you are sincere. There is no cynicism or insidious remarks or statements in any of your posts to me on this thread. It is also my opinion that you have excellent writing skills; also, your respectful tact in your response when challenged garnishes your person. Thank you.

Hecce, in the past, what did the Cuban government do to JW for their stand on no blood, no flag, no military and covert preaching. What do they do now to JW?

I heard that very few can get internet in Cuba, so JW sign don't do much for the locals.

I have read some and skimmed some of this thread , which is very interesting , and will be coming back to it to fill in the blanks

I find this subject fascinating to say the least .

Thank you Hecce for starting this thread and providing us with such an insight as to what ocurred during the Castro years.

And thank you fisherman for adding additional information , with what Hecce has already stated , shedding light on what was happening to Jehovah`s Witnesses in Cuba under Fidel Castro and the culpability of the Governing Body`s part in making life so much harder for Jehovah`s Witnesses in that country during that period.

You both should get your heads together with a publisher and produce a book about this , you have material with the makings of , if not a best seller , certainly one not very far off it . Seriously. Consider it .

Thanks for your kind words, my intention with the post was just to put down some information that was going to go away with me.

This link will take you to more pictures of the Cuban Bethel and its operation, most of the information is in Spanish but the photos speak by themselves.

Across the street from that building there is park called the "Japanese Park"; as a norm two undercover agents from the government were posted in that park watching Betel activities. Like I said before when things started to get ugly the Branch kept their normal operations, this made easy for the security forces to raid the Branch and in one scoop get all the relevant targets.

After that things changed, an elderly brother named Callendar was assigned as the Branch Representative and he and a few sister were the only ones left taking care of the building.

Bethel became a roving office, moving from location to location on a regular basis; my understanding is that was kept until 1994 when restrictions were relaxed.

One of your pending questions, internet is already there and expanding. I assume that it becomes more accessible is going to be a headache for the WT, similar to the USA experience.
