What presents some level of hypocrisy is that in the bible its states to not practice in the traditions of men of that era but what is an wedding anniversary as its practiced today ?

A person is only to be honoured if it does not turn around the persons life/birth, because life is from God. So only the honouring for achievements of a person is remaining.

It seems that behind it stands the idea that the birth of person or the person itself is

    - a pagan, mystical ceremony with satanic origin

    - or honouring a person would be imitating the satanic attitude of demonstratiing distraction or dishonouring God who only is the real lifegiver.

In both cases SATAN wants to seduce Jehovahs witnesses to think that the person is more important than God and therefore they dont celebrate the person and avoid the tricky trap of Satan the devil.

The scripture that supports this is the birthdayparty of John the baptist, that turned into a bloody mass and the star of bethlem whom SATAN sent for the little children to seduce them to think that HE is God and can make falling stars.

    What ???

Where in the bible was Satan's birthday celebrated in any ancient civilization ?

In both cases SATAN wants to seduce Jehovah's witnesses to think that the Person is more important than God.

Really ??? sounds like JWS contrived bullshit.

Another forced doctrine to make it look like how evil and false other non - JWS are and we on the other hand are steadfast righteous and pure.

Sounds like someone has gotten brainwashed right off the pages of the WTS.

Does this look like people cerebrating a pagan god ?

Finkelstein - where in the scripture?

You finally caught me while I was only kidding and tried to find out the real reason.

The argumentation is totally free invented, but could be as well the JW cult's argumentation.

I wanted to show how stupid all this is.

Its too bad JWS forgot about Jesus greatest commandant which was to love one another, perhaps it might explain why JWS are so apathetic and unloving within their organization as well toward humanity.

You never know there are devout JWS who do come to this forum .

    It's scripturally indefensible.

If JWs want to be party poopers and not celebrate their own birthdays, that's fine with me.

As long as "each one is fully convinced in his own mind" (Romans 14:5) they can observe or not observe whatever day they wish. THAT is in the Bible™. Their Bible™. The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures™.

One man judges one day as above another; another judges one day the same as all others; let each one be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day observes it to Jehovah. Also, the one who eats, eats to Jehovah, for he gives thanks to God; and the one who does not eat does not eat to Jehovah, and yet gives thanks to God.

If they wish to argue over scripture, this is one that just doesn't rate worthy of arguing over.

If everyone gets to celebrate their birthday - not in a form of worshipful reverence, but in appreciation for someone having touched their lives in a positive way - how does it elevate one person above another, if literally *everyone* has a birthday??

Frankly, if God™ is so insecure about being worshipped when people have a party for someone's birthday, or wish someone "Happy Birthday", or send a card with birthday wishes, he doesn't deserve to be worshipped. Period.

Going back to what a said previously, the main point though is that its mostly about the connection to the ancients celebrating the supposed birthdays of select gods in paganism. Romans celebrated Mithra birthday on Dec 25 or rebirth.

The WTS leaders took a clear cut viewpoint forgetting the core premise of cerebrating the birthday of a god or King as main social event opposed to how birthdays are cerebrated today on a personal level with families.
