Well said Listener! The governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses have no evidence for being chosen by God apart from their own say so. They have had no success whatsoever in using the Bible as prophecy. All they are left with is the good will of their ill-informed followers and religious hype based on imaginative fictional writing such as found in Daniel and Revelation.
Babylon the great; "the world empire of false religion" and its imminent fall, is one of these total fictions. It is repeated so often that JWs believe it is a real thing-- it does not exist outside of cloud cuckoo land.

Who is 'they'? Russell? Rutherford? The board of directors until 1970?? The GB until 2000? The current governing body is not responsible for any of that. So they are not that 'they'.

Rattigan350, they ARE "they". They are a body that claims to be God's channel on earth. For JWs to try to disconnect the current governing body from bodies/individuals that preceded it would be indicating they are just led by men - whoever is in charge at the current time.
The current GB claims to be a continuation of that which precedes it.

But just look at what preceded them ! look right the way back to 1918/9 ! Rutherford and gang, as Ray Franz pointed out, were such an awful shower, with pitifully inaccurate teachings, and unbiblical practices, that " it would be an insult to Jesus Christ to say that he chose them".
So how does today's claim by the G.B to be "God's Channel" stand up ? it cannot stand, it has no legs to stand upon !
