Watchtower pressure backfires!

A Witness friend told my husband this:

At the SM recently the PO was giving the congregation a pep talk. He said that he was very disappointed that the average hours in the congregation were so low and that he was sure they could do better. As proof, he said that their congregation had the lowest hours in the area and if the others could do more so could they.

Our friend’s reaction? He and his wife have decided never to report again.

His conclusion was. “It’s just competition, that’s all it is.”

Once again, they’ve just gone too far.

Thats good news yesidid, its great when these things backfire and JWs get to see that they are just pawns in a competition to see who can do the most hours.

The prat PO just demonstrated that it wasnt a heart thing that he was concerned about but rather that he wanted his cong to be better than the others.

It's the same old shame-them-into-doing-more stuff that now sems to backfire more often than it used to. People with a thinking mind just see right through it, like your friend did.

Did the talk backfire or did it do what the PO wanted? If they felt strong enough about this to stop going in service then I guess they did not spend a lot of time in service to start with because their hearts would not have been in it. So 2 less publishers with not a great decrease in total ministry hours would increase the average hours per publisher. The PO will be giving himself a pat on the back for a job well done....
