To believe in the bible as Gods word you would have to believe the early church.....which consisted of men whom we compare the GB too and say "their just men", .....was guided by god himself to decide which books would "make the cut" and which ones would not. Revelation wasn't accepted untill the 4th century. Did it take that long for God to decide that Johns book was good ebough which was penned in 50 C.E. or later? Did God also not like the book of Thomas which was part of the cannon and deleted?

Actually.....did God ever command that a N.T. be written to any man? Did he say......"write down all that my son has done and put them in a book and print many copies and spread these writings to the world". I don't recall anywhere where God wanted this done.

Do some study on the events that shrouded the making of the bible cannon, and you'll question things a bit more than you now do.

They listed a lot of them. The gospel of thomas is cool. The hag hammadi is pretty wierd. There are the apocrypha. The book of enoch is interesting. You could even check out the popal vu (mayan). Read hammarabi's code (it's lingo is a lot like moses', and it's older, and it's babylonian). The egyptian book of the dead. Then there is hindu and buddhist. The diamond sutra, and the yoga sutra of patanjali are recommended. That'll keep you in reading material for a while.

SS who has only read bits and pieces of the above

Yes, the disclaimer that it is a wonderful piece of fiction.

Enjoy: do not take seriously or literally.
