    DUBSTEPPED:

I am so sorry how you were treated by JW family at your father’s death. I know what you mean about Witness cruelty with shunning in the event of a family member dying.

I try to wrap my brain around why Witnesses do this. You see, I was a convert and was not raised a JW so this cruelty and lack of common decency was and is alien to me. The best way I can describe it is that they deliberately purge themselves of feelings and sentiment because they are preparing themselves to either do something unpleasant or bad (or going to suffer a loss) and want to kill their nerve endings so they feel nothing. That’s the feeling I got about the whole mentality there. That’s the best way I can describe it.

I’m glad I’m no part of this anymore.

In my case, I’m not disfellowshipped but for the most part shunned. When i go to my brother’s memorial service, I’m sure I will be treated ok. But I know that it’s not 100 percent legit. They are in a cult. Enough said.
