Unmarried couple staying at my house

Why not ask an elder at her congregation? After all, if your wife is wrong, she risks being called to a judicial committee. At the very least, there will be some stigma attached to that if others in the congregation find out. At worst, she could be reproved or disfellowshipped.

If she isn't comfortable asking that question of an elder, then that by itself should be an indication that things are not quite right, isn't it?

i caught out my JW parents about this 40 years ago. I was living with my lady and invited my parents to dinner--and to meet her.

They said--"you know we cant--because you are not married."

Now--i had already thought up my rebuttal to this...because they socialised openly with my mums sister--and male partner--who had never married and had 4 grown up kids.

i was surprised how quickly they backed down--met my lady--and got on like a house on fire.

We married a few months later--and were together for the next 23 years.

My father-in-law came from Florida to Alabama with his lady friend to stay overnight with us and I told them that they will stay in separate rooms.

The watchtower organization has too much time on their hands and obviously think that couples have a lot more sex than they actually do.

I have made the comment many times even though I get the squint eye from them when I do that when JW's yap about the "world" being sex crazed they are in reality projecting. They are always thinking or talking about who is doing it, where they are doing it, when they are doing it, who they are doing it with, and how men are women are basically sexual predators just waiting to seduce someone.

The bible scriptures are full a sexual content

WT writes further commentary about it

JW feed their minds with that

That results in bizarre JW sexual fixations.

In my former congregation, a brother was disfellowshipped because his son spent a night with his girlfriend at his home, in the same bed. He was convinced of complicity in an immoral act. So both father and son were disfellowshipped !

Thanks everyone for the quotes and the replies. I don’t know for how much longer I can take the stupidity of religion. The price for speaking is losing the family. I wonder if at the end is worth sacrificing? 🤔

    We feel that, suavo.

A happy medium ground is possible.

Quietly becoming a inactive JW (non-hostile) can allow a person maintain normal relationships with family. And instead of being shunned, inactivity often results in more "love" being shown by JWs. Obviously their intention would to lovingly reactive you... just don't reactivate. Some call it fading. This usually allows the inactive JW to maintain normal communication with active JW family and some active JW friends.
